Wonderful

Josh has been absolutely insanely wonderful today. He's made two trips to the store to get me things to make me feel better. I love him.

Oww

The drugs wore off too quick, so I didn't get all of the teeth out. I have an appointment next Monday. We'll see how that goes.

My mouth feels fine. There is just minor twinges, but what hurts more than anything is the migraine I got from the whole ordeal.

I've got to go sit down on the couch. I am so hungry. I haven't eaten in about 24 hours and even then, it wasn't much.

100

Eric and I got a 100 on our MinSpim project. Now I am obsessively checking to see the grades for our final. I am going to visit some family that has come down for a week and I know I will be obsessing while I am away from the computer. The freaking semester isn't even technically over until tomorrow night.

More later as we are running a wee late right now. There is kitty related news... My cat is fine, but there are new strays on the scene.

Rewrite

I'm attempting to rewrite my resume, update Ubuntu and relax.

I spent the day with my mom. We shopped and I got jeans. Go me.

My laptop space bar is sticking really bad. This is ridiculous. Better update when I get this fixed. I am nearly punching my keys! Suxor.

Schools out for... two weeks

I am home. I have taken my last exam. Unfortunately, I don't think I did so well. I've been feeling very miserable and today was no exception. I just couldn't focus on the questions. I know I got 27% correct. There was a short essay worth 3% of the grade that I am not sure I got right. The other 9, I aced. The essays I think I did well on 1 and not so well on the other four. Yeah, Not feeling so hot since that was 70% of the exam grade. At least I had an A (or a high B if I didn't do so well on the paper) going into the exam. That gives me an inkling of hope.

My discrete went OK, especially for a 7am exam. I'm not sure if what I did made sense, but it made sense to me when I did it. Go figure.

Taking a break from the world today

Holy migraines Batman!!!

So, when we last left off I was worrying about our MiniSpim program, discrete homework and assorted other goodies. Well, Eric and I believe we have completed our program. I have emailed the TA for the class to see if we could get a few more input files for testing. It works with the single one we were given, but that doesn't cover all possible variations.

My exam for this computer organization class is tomorrow. We've been studying since Thursday or Friday. It is quite a bit of a blur right now. I know that I haven't gotten to see Josh much and that sucks. He's been getting lots of brewing and computer related things done on his days off, but considering I am going to be miserable next week, it sucks.

Why am I going to be miserable? Oh yeah, I forgot to tell all of you. I've got to get my wisdom teeth removed in less than a week. Suck, oh that will more than suck. At least Josh is driving me there and back.

I really need to study, but I want to take a nap very badly. I can't wait to have a somewhat normal sleep schedule again.

Send me some positive mojo tomorrow morning folks (around 10am Eastern) and some more on Thursday starting around 7am until about 3pm. Tomorrows class is the most difficult and the class I am doing the worst in, but not by far.

Done

I finished the paper. I was actually over at one point and had to take out some. I think I did OK. I have an A in the class currently, so I'm not too worried.

I still have some Discrete homework that is due this coming Friday and then the MiniSpim project. Now that we're talking it through, we're feeling OK.

The project is due the morning of my last finals, so the pressure is on to complete it as soon as possible so that I can get some studying done.

Four Tea Too

Jackie Robinson's number was 42. 42 = the answer to life, the universe and everything.

I'm just saying...

Writing Blocked

My writing is currently blocked. I'm 209 words from completing, but I just can't look at the text any more. It's doing a number on my eyes. I feel like I am at a good point. I've been switching between homework, paper and project often enough that I don't go stir crazy, but not so often that I don't get anything done. I have two problems on my homework left to do, but those are more of the "I'm not sure if this is what they want" variety. Then I just have the little bit of this paper to do and all of the mini spim project. I'm still looking for any help, so feel free to comment or whatever if you have any knowledge in this area, because I just feel like I have a deep knife wound to the leg and I am falling into a tank of very hungry sharks.

Bleh.

Good news though. I was informed (on the down low) that one of the really good professors will be taking up half of the semester of one of the classes I have to teach. Now, it will probably be really hard, but I feel better asking him questions than I do the professor I thought we were going to have. Pheew.

woohooo. this is bad

Crap. I'm at 408 words. On the bright side of things, that's just the introduction and half of one point. There is hope. Unfortunately phone calls and distractions have led me to not get as much done as I had wanted. I "started over" by just copying my introduction over and rewriting the first half of my first point. It worked out well until the phone calls started. My fear of missing an important phone call (Josh's grandmother and my grandfather aren't exactly young you know) keeps causing me to answer it when it rings.

OK, now this is being a distraction. I must go. Yeah for having almost a third done!

When its brother gave you that scar

"36? But last year, last year I had 37."

I'm quoting Dudley Dursley, it must be Harry Potter movies which can mean only one thing. I'm writing my paper! My medicine is making me feel a little sick, so I'm slow on the start, but I have three hundred words already. That is only my basic outline. I haven't made any references or anything.

My eyes are itchy and my nose feels all tingly. The sun is shining and the rain is gone. The pollen is having a blast! Miserable.

My parents are having an open room turned into a guest room. The work began today. I don't know what the plan specs are, but I hope it looks nice. Maybe once I am done with school, I can help them paint. Maybe.

OK, in case you didn't notice, I'm procrastinating. The paper isn't due until Tuesday, but I have imposed a deadline of tonight. I have too many other things going on or that are due for me to not stick to my schedule. I'm referencing Hagrid now. I really should get back to work.

Productive Printing

I'm feeling somewhat productive. I have printed the second book for my paper twice* and am now almost a quarter of the way through the text. I should finish by dinner, if I stop letting myself get distracted. Thankfully I have read part of the later half of the book already and I have been taking notes as I go. Hopefully I can have a good writing session like the last paper.

*OK, technically, three times. The first time I printed it was over a month ago. I created a book, complete with page editing and all. Then I realized my page references would be incorrect, so I printed it again, double sided, two pages to a side. Unfortunately, something went wacky and it printed pages incorrectly. They were severely out of order. Perhaps a Firefox bug? Who knows. It was 180-something pages. The third time I printed it, I opted to use IE and print it double sided with one page per side. This was probably better in the long run for page referencing.

This mission really has been accomplished

Oh yeah baby. I finished my Computer Organization homework! Go me. It only took all of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and half of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I highly recommend anyone still in school to get about three movies and watch them about twenty times between semesters. Then whenever you need to focus, put those movies in and you can "watch" them while doing homework or study. I never feel lost when I look up from studying to watch a bit of the HP movies because I have watched them so many times*. The other movie I watch a lot is The Day After Tomorrow.

Next up is working on my paper for Asian History. I have to finish reading and then write a paper comparing/contrasting the two books. I am two days behind, but I shall try to catch up.

Oh, and I was serious as to whether any of you had any experience with MiniSpim. The other semesters have gotten at least a month to work on their project, but this semester we're getting less and it is due during finals rather than a couple weeks before. /sigh

*I watched the first HP movie over and over when we were packing to move from up north.

Tomorrow is the real holiday

To the jack ass who insisted on trying to intimidate me after we both pulled out of our parking spaces at the same time: Fuck you.

Someone actually attempted to intimidate me by following me home*. Unfortunately for them, I had all the time in the world. I didn't have anywhere to go. I celebrate tomorrow. Tomorrow all of the egg dyes go on sale and I'll score lots of dye for my yarn for cheap!

*I didn't actually go home. I didn't have any perishables, so I drove some back roads I knew. I thought I could use the fresh air.

Breakfast

Josh is in the kitchen making breakfast and doing the Spam scene from Monty Python. I'm suffering with a horrible headache and an infection which is causing my study/paper/project schedule to be completely screwed up. I foresee a minimum of two all nighters in my future.

Anyone have any past experience with MiniSpim? or MinSpim? It is a mini processor simulator written in C. It has to demonstrate specific functions of a MIPS processor, by reading in a file of machine code and simulate what MIPS does, cycle by cycle. You know you all want to help me, right?

I think I'll go eat breakfast, have a good cry and try to get something done.

Bastages

So apparently they are shelving the Black Donnellys. The Bastages. This frustrates me. It is a good show. I can't always watch it the night of, but I do make sure to catch the episode eventually. Get rid of Deal or No Deal first. That show drives me nuts.

Off to study.

Bite me Alice

I registered for classes. I got my essential class without any problems. It was the frivolous, "as long as it is upper level" class that I was having a hard time getting into. I wanted to take something relevant, but unfortunately I am once again taking a network class. This one is a supposed to be a little more hands on, but it isn't want I wanted. It also puts me on campus every day of the week for a single class each day. Considering the drive, it is kind of frustrating. It makes me tempted to get a job really close to campus. Yes Eric, I will work on my resume.

I'm sitting outside of Engineering 3 and I just noticed some massively large bamboo stalks. There is bamboo everywhere around here, but this particular group has very thick stalks. I should bring my camera on Thursday to take some pictures.

If I am quiet for the next week or three, it is because I have a huge exam on Thursday, a paper that following Thursday, finals in three weeks and a program due during finals. Then a week after finals are over, the foundation exam is going to kick my butt. Stress, me? Nah. Oh, and I just remembered. I have two assignments in one class and another assignment in another class due in the next couple of weeks. Boo

I guess I should go get started. Goodbye fun.

OK, this is mostly for Josh to torment his coworkers with and for those who don't read metafilter that often... Alanis Morissette covering My Humps. Turn your speakers down.
