Naughty Bunny

Oh my, a BunnySutra swatch watch. Too cute. Zoom in to see the watch bands. The boy bunny is wearing tidy whitey underwear and the girl bunny is wearing a negligee. (Link via Eric.)

Day of Birth

Happy Birthday to one of my oldest friends, Calhoun. Keep an eye out for a box in the mail.

Ubuntu Studio

Ooh, Ooh, Ooh, Ubuntu Studio! If we upgrade the server and I get one of the current big drives, this might be worth partitioning the drive and loading it! I have plain old Ubuntu and Windows running on my laptop, but my desktop hard drive gets full fast if I don't move things to the server or burn them in a timely manner.

Brrrr

I'm cold. I had all of the windows open because I am trying to air out the house. Our outside water is chock full of those lovely minerals and we went and used it to mop the tile and grout and we got some build up on the tiles. So I spent today scrubbing the tiles with good ole vinegar and distilled water. It helped for the most part. So, the house has been smelling like rotten eggs. Yum. Can't wait for Josh to smell it when he gets home.

While in the other room I watched the cat walk into the bathroom. This is very unusual for her. She doesn't go in there unless someone else is in there and usually it is only long enough to realize she doesn't want to be in there. After about thirty seconds, I realized she wasn't coming back out, so I went in to see what she was doing. As a kitten she used to unravel the toilet paper roll, so I wondered if she was reliving something from her kittenhood.

She wasn't. I walked in to find her sitting in the toilet. Yes, IN the toilet. She wasn't doing anything, just sitting there kind of hanging out. I think she is losing her mind. Maybe she is telling me she wants to be potty trained correctly because the directions she's getting of the internet must be really wrong.

So, after that, I rinsed her off (because the previous owner had a 2000 flushes inside and it turned into a sort of gel and sometimes actually does what it is supposed to). Then I made sure the lids to all of the toilet seats were down and decided I was too cold to keep all of the windows open.

I went on the patio to close the windows and I heard Native American drum beats. My first thought was.. "WTF?" but then I remembered that there was a Native American Pow Wow going on a couple blocks up. No, not in someone's yard, but in the area behind the YMCA which corresponds to a couple of blocks away. It was just a little weird to hear at first.

Yes, she was in the toilet.

Twice

The parking lot for Home Depot is next to/joined with the Wal-Mart parking lot and while I was putting my Home Depot purchases in the trunk, a woman walked up to me speaking Spanish. I took one look at her and knew what was about to happen. "I don't speak Spanish." "Oh, I'm sorry. I'd like to give you something." and out comes the pamphlets. I told her I am not interested and that she can keep them. So then I pull up into the driveway and get the groceries in the house. I'd say ten minutes pass when I hear the doorbell. It is the old people. Once before they have come to the house and I told them I wasn't interested. Then others came and I told them I wasn't interested. This time the lady tried to leave me some of the pamphlets (or magazines as they called them) and I informed her that she didn't need to because I was really not interested. She informed me that she was sorry and wouldn't bother me again. I said, "Thank you, that would be nice."

I try to be pleasant, but when I tell you no, I mean no.

Off to clean the grout and replace the screen on the front door. My life can be so exciting sometimes

Picture updates

photo of my cat with her tongue sticking outI uploaded some pictures yesterday. Some are of the tile, one unsealed, but grouted and one of the bloody tile removal, some are of my nephew and some hotwheels, some of the cat, and shot of a knit brain slug I made.

For the wait

OK, so you can't wait for the Apple iPhone to come out... well there is a good way to waste some of the color toner in your office's color printer... Get your fix via the The iPhone Papercraft Model.

In other news, Josh has been mucking around with Jinzora on the server. We have too much music. We're looking at upgrading. We'll probably just do mirrored 500Gb drives for the time being. Now if only we could get him to post something on his site.

waste of time

Wow. Boy was today a waste of my time. I had two labs today (labs meaning we practice what we learned in class). The first one just repeated what we covered in class (rather poorly I should add) and the second one lasted a whole 15 minutes. Grrr. Total the two labs together lasted less than the drive to school alone. Ugh.

At least I got home before the schools at the end of the street got out. I hate playing dodge the kids on Fridays.

Pet Bed

I think I have discovered the best pet bed ever... It's slipper shaped! I could make one for the cat.

Speaking of the cat. She's trying to kick me out of my chair so she can sit in it. Rude!

Argh - Eeek

24 has gone and done it. They got me watching the first and second season premier episodes. Of course, casting Alexander Siddig as a bad guy/ good guy (do we know yet) doesn't hurt. It had its high and low points, but I'm interested enough to watch. Though, if it conflicts with Heroes or Lost, it might need to be watched later.

On the way home

I read the headline "Investigator pleads guilty in HP spying probe" and thought..." Was someone caught spying on J.K. Rowling?" Just tells you where my mind isn't.

A sign that my drive from school is too long and boring is when I start quoting scenes from Pee Wee's Big Adventure to myself in the car. The sign that I am a dork is the fact that I can actually quote scenes from that movie.

This is not my warm bed

I realized on my way in today that the single class I have today is shorter than my drive to said class. How sad is that.

I came in REALLY early today. Five hours early. I know how painful parking is, so I thought I would just come in early instead of sleeping in. Of course I forgot my MI:5/Spooks Season 4 disc that I was planning to watch today. Instead I'll probably just watch Death of a President. I have that one with me.

Anyone remember BookIt? I think I will be buying one of these BookIt Tees. It should go well with my original Space Camp tee. I remember reading my books for BookIt, getting the free Pizza Hut personal pan pizza and that button. Oh that button! If only I still had it. All would be cool.

I think I will head off around 10am. I need to pay for classes and then get lunch before my class.

Maybe I should have slept in and dealt with the parking hassle. I'm really freakin tired.

Feed an addiction

There is a gnat or something flying around in here that is starting to piss me off!

Anyhow. I didn't bring my laptop and I survived. I did start to fall asleep after lunch. Downside of laying on the couch in engineering while reading. Thankfully I finished my reading and all was well.

I recently bought a new phone. My other one stopped taking a charge and had been rather unreliable for quite some time. Since we were buying it outright and I pretty much hate being on the phone, I got the cheapest one they had. You know what is funny, I really like it. The one thing I find most useful is the fact that it has FM radio. I listened to it a lot today. I hardly ever listen to the radio unless it is in the car. Speaking of the car...

On my way home today some jerk nearly ran into me head on. He decided that he should pass someone in a no passing lane and hadn't bothered to pay attention to the fact that there was not enough clearance for him to pass between myself and the car he was trying to pass. Yeah, I swerved off the road and back on safely. Thankfully it was before the guard rails. He could easily see that I was there as his truck was taller than the car in front of him. That was not the only interesting car related event today...

Near home I followed a guy that had to be drunk. I know people behind me were probably getting pissed that I was driving a little slower than I should have, but I watched the guy drive off the road three times (barely missing a mailbox at one point) and cross into the oncoming traffic lane five times. Yeah, tonight was an interesting night.

I haven't even relayed these lovely events to Josh yet. He's gone over to someone's house to help them do something. Super exciting, I know.

Also today. Someone decided to feed my addiction by giving me yarn for Winter Solstice. Soft and fluffy yarn. I was thinking of making wristlets out of it so I can pet the yarn whenever I want. That could be a bad thing.

No laptop for me

I've decided not to take my laptop with me tomorrow. I want to see how things go without it. I'm going to attempt to read between my classes though I suspect that will get boring really quick. I'm not taking my ultra heavy book, but I will take my two lighter ones.

The ultra heavy book is for my 7:30AM class anyway. I can't exactly read the hour before that class. Besides, as of right now we don't even know what to read. My Asian History (it is the second part of the one I took last semester) class has an outline and it works out great. We know generally what we will cover and when things are due. The professor is really good at sticking to the schedule. I didn't need the class but I like him and his teaching so much that I decided to take this course. I wonder if he is teaching anything different next semester. I need an upper level course in anything. I don't think they have an upper level bowling class, but then again I don't really like bowling. Maybe upper level yoga? Doubt they have that either. I'll just take a computer science class or something.

I'm babbling because I'm tired. I cut down and dug up trees today. I probably should have just read, I know.

Bored

I'm waiting outside of my next class. There is another 45 minutes until my class actually starts. So far my day has been OK. I've already got a vault in my bag to keep me awake. I'm so freaking tired. The cat has been a pain in my arse and I didn't get to sleep much. I did manage to see the Gators beat the crap out of Ohio. Holy crap. I couldn't believe that final score, 41-14.

Linda... Eric... where are you two? I'm so bored.

So far my first class was pretty sweet. I discovered that exams will be open book and open notes. I thought it was going to be miserable, but I am a happy camper with this class.

OK, my battery is going dead. My first class was let out pretty early and I've been online for a while.

Tired

I'm so tired. I am fighting to stay awake right now. I have some towels and a fleece pullover in the dryer. The towels I don't mind staying in there but I really want to make sure everything gets dry. I need that fleece in the morning. I'm hoping they won't take too long.

Classes start tomorrow. I feel like I never had a vacation. What's up with that.

OK. I'm going to go stand by the dryer and will them to dry faster. I can't stay up too much longer and the cat is hungry. I refuse to feed her until I go to sleep. Otherwise she'll want more when I finally do go to sleep.

Oh... and here is my take on the news today....

Gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators. UF. Gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators gators.

Goody gravy am I glad I decided not to go to UF. I fear I may have become one of those people.

Posting Spree

I'm on a posting spree apparently.

I'm once again being hit by those responsible homeowner blues. This time it is more responsible homeowner frustration. We have been thinking of getting a flat screen tv to hang above the fireplace (yes, it would be safe, I asked). However, I can't find any clear information on energy consumption for anything over 32 inches. While 32 inches is probably plenty for Josh and I, I still want to see what the ratings are. Anyway, that is in the far future. Our current TV works just fine and honestly, we don't watch enough television to justify buying anything new right now. Besides that, there are some construction project we want to do in that room before we would even think of putting one in there. I just want to be able to get some good research done first.

I'm not so sure about this

I just watched the trailer for Bridge to Terabithia. Having read the book many times as a child, I'm not sure about this movie. It seems like Disney is trying to cash in on the fantasy film craze. There was a completely different meaning to the book than what I think is going to be portrayed. I'll probably watch it, but only as a movie. There will be no way I can compare the book.

Countdown

Parking decal purchased - check
Books for classes - check
Sinus infection and whatever else was wrong with me gone - Uhh, I am not sure
Floor done - not yet, but very soon
Two more batches of beer brewed - check
Checkbook balanced - check

Classes start on Monday. I'm going to miss my first class on Tuesday*, but never fear Eric, I will be in our class. I am going to have to drive to campus this semester due to one class starting at 7:30 in the morning. I'm so not looking forward to that. Yes I get up at 5am already, but I'm never truly awake until at least 9am. The buses that I take are usually pretty empty and I can nap on them. The one from here to downtown is lucky to get ten people on it and it is actually a coach bus (think cushy seats and all that jazz). The bus driver usually wakes us up when our stop is coming up (this is an express point a to point b bus). I may take the bus on Fridays since I don't have a 7:30am class. I wonder if it is really cost effective at that point though. Probably not since I'd only be going one day a week.

This semester I have two extra days off. I was going to take another class this semester but realized I would only be taking one class next semester. I figured I could spread the stress and cut out two days of going to campus by not taking the class until the summer.

*I know the professor and will email him letting him know.
