How am I spending my Friday night? I'm getting wild and crazy. Not. I've been sick. I think it may be a reaction to my medicine, but I'm not sure. All I know is that I am really tired and that the guest bathroom toilet is really clean.
My camera is on its way and is scheduled to arrive here on Monday. I hope it is in good shape. I should charge up all of my batteries on Sunday. Tuesday I only have one class, so I may be taking a lot of pictures around town. Flickr account, you've been warned!
Many congrats to Kris on her Australian citizenship!
I did a heel click in the Engineering hall today after my Asian History class. Why, you ask. Because I got a freakin B on my exam that I swore I bombed!! If I thought I did so bad, I can't imagine how the people who failed felt after they took it. I'd be celebrating more, but I'm still working on my homework. I may not do a portion of it. Time is getting short. I will try though.
OK, just had to let everyone know about my happy moment today.
New HP:OoTP pics are out! Check out the ones of Umbridge. Kitten plates!
I'm so there... /eyes the box of floppies on the desk.
now back to school work and blowing my nose...
My nephew AJ turned six today. I called him a couple of hours ago to say Happy Birthday. I also asked him if he looked older and he said yes. I asked him if he had grown a beard and mustache yet and he laughed and told me Noooooo. I told him that Uncle Josh said that when boys turn six they automatically get beards and a mustache. He laughed more. Then I told him that Uncle Josh must have been playing a trick on me because I'm a girl and they are boys. Too funny.
That just blew 20 levels of suck.
I just took an exam in Asian history (essay and short answer) and totally bombed. I worried so much that I started forgetting things I knew before I went into the class. There was just a huge amount of information to study and even the people who studied for weeks didn't know some of the short answers. I managed to get through a few of the essays, but Gawd was it horrible.
Now I have to do an assignment for Computer Security and work on a paper for the Asian history course.
Did I mention that I am still sick on top of this? Yes, beavis, this sucks.
I'm going to go blow my nose and crawl under a rock until it is time to go home.
You know, besides being sick and having to study for exams... I really don't like having creepy guys hit on me and then insist on staring at me and oogling at me after I have told them to leave me alone. Assholes.
I'm congested. I'm freezing and I'm tired. I need to study. Why this week?
In happier news, I got AJ's birthday present. I think he'll like it. He won't use it like he is supposed to, but does that really matter? As long as he enjoys it, it is fine with me!
I'm not taking my laptop and I'm not taking any knitting tomorrow. I have to do some hard core studying.
So there is a girl attending school here that I went to high school with. We weren't friends, but she was unique enough (in a not so good way) that it is hard to forget her. I don't know her name, but I know it is her. She looks almost exactly the same, just a little older and heavier. She still acts exactly the same.
I've changed and I know plenty of others that have. It is just weird to see her as though she has been preserved in time.
I would say it was the cold medicine, but I haven't taken any yet and I don't have a fever right now. I'm just stuffy.
I'm killing another hour by sufring. I'm about to go study, but I wanted to charge my battery while I could. I found a seat and an electrical outlet, so all is good here.
I'm babbling.
I'm sick. Leave me alone.
Pirates be spotted.
Unfortunately, they resemble cliche beer wenches and sea world actors than pirates. One looks like a depressed poet more than a pirate. They all get points for trying though!
Not a single scurvey dog be daring enough to take on the challenge. I be talking about Talk Like a Pirate Day!
I still have hope in ye students... Tis only 9:30 in the mornin.
/note: I didn't dress up, but I'm older and wiser and have to go through a not so safe part of downtown Orlando today. Not exactly the best place to be dressed as a pirate or wench.
Oddly enough, last Monday we had ninjas on campus. Though there is a general consensus that they weren't real ninjas. If they were, we wouldn't have seen them.
Off to study.. Two big exams this week. Boooooo.
Edit: Oh, and I'm congested and feverish. It's only taken 5 weeks into the semester!
/checks date. Nope, it's not April. Then wtf? HP and a slimming camera? via metafilter (the comments are great)
I think I just had a flashback to be in the third grade. Office supplies trebuchet.
Note to self... bike light...
I just got a spam email with the subject... "Elf Urine" um, sure. I didn't even want to think about opening it!
OK, if I had my telescope set up, I would have probably been able to see the windows on the shuttle. If I had my camera, I probably would have gotten some great pictures. I couldn't believe it was so clear from here. Very strange, but I am happy that everything has gone OK so far. Let's just hope for a safe mission and a safe landing.
On a oddly related note, just before launch I was going through a box of clothes can came across my old space camp shirt. It has some stains on it that I hope I can get out. I tried it on and it fits pretty good. Sweet. Back to unpacking and studying.
Dear dumbass who sat behind me yesterday, the driver probably hates you and your mouth, not the route. To the old guy who sat next to me yesterday morning: use your eyes next time. Don't get all pissed off and hot headed until you evaluate the situation. Getting angry at someone because they won't move for a war veteran is OK... except the person you were getting pissed off at was completely blind and a nice person. Then don't get all huffy when I very nicely leaned over and whispered to you that he was blind.
OK.. so that was yesterday. Today sucks because I forgot my watch and my cell phone. Can we say bad day? I knew it was going to be a bad day when the cat attacked my feet first thing, then I overcooked breakfast, REALLY burned the toast, and finally put on a pair of wet shoes.
On the brighter side, I have my laptop and my ipod. I remembered to make a lunch and they restocked the Vault Zeros. Let's see how the actual day compares to this miserable morning.
So as I have been unpacking things, I have come across things I had forgotten we had. Apparently I seemed to forget often that we had sheets. It seems that we have 10 sets of sheets for the bed in the guest room, but only two sets of sheets for our own bed. Very interesting, I know.
I've unpacked most of the books and even plucked some out to either ebay or give away. The bookshelf/wall is overflowing even more now. And that's with putting my rare or old books on the mantle (away from the cat).
I'm missing my camera a lot now that I don't have it. Hopefully it will be back soon. I got a letter from the camera repair company telling me it would cost $181 US to repair it. I had to call because apparently someone made a boo-boo and lost the copy of the receipt I emailed. The camera is still under warranty, so I shouldn't be paying any thing. Hopefully they will get it in the mail to me this week. Yes, hopefully.

I should be reading. I have to finish reading Tales from the Thousand and One Nights so that I can write a paper on some themes in the book. Instead I am goofing off on the web. I could continue unpacking too. We still have boxes of stuff all over the place. Josh hooked up two-thirds of the speakers to the stereo, so we have been watching movies to test it out. We discovered two remotes are toast. It really sucked because on of them controlled every single component we have. Though thankfully the DVD remote can control the receiver volume as needed. That is where we would need it most.
Stever Irwin diedtoday. People can complain about how annoying or out there he was, but at least he had fun in life.
In other news, I have been instructed by Brittany that I need a "hot background" on my YouTube channel. It took me long enough to finally add a few "favorite" videos. Maybe I'll actually post something once I get my camera back from the repair place, whenever that is.
From the sounds of it, my stomach is planning a revolution if it doesn't east something soon. You know your stomach is growling a little too loud when the cat hears it and turns around to stare at you.
