I think I stumped Vader. I got up to 25 questions, he isn't probing me anymore and never got it. Go me. link via Kristine.
I spent most of this morning trying to get my computer working. We had a nasty line of thunderstorms last night (and this morning and probably later this afternoon) and when the power went out my computer went kaput. I managed to get it running in safe mode and after a little work, I think I got it all together.
I made the mistake of showing Shalyn how to talk to me over AIM. She's in the next room sending me messages. At least she is practicing spelling and typing!
OK, so I took a picture of the finished object and posted it. I got tracking info for my Denise set! Golden, they've already been shipped. I will hopefully get them Wednesday. I have knitting needles in every needle size, but not different lengths. This should solve a lot of the problem.
When I was little, my teacher once told me that when you use a lot, there should be a lot of space in between them. She meant it as try not to use it too much. I thought she meant that there should be quite a bit of physical space between a and lot. I did that for a good month until it hit me what she really meant.
Breaking news... little miss Brittany has been updating. Did I feel a collective faint? Now if only she would start writing normal. She's creating new meanings for normal words. I think sometime this week I will have her set up a mini dictionary page to translate from Brittany to English.
Well, off to finish some laundry and to the grocery store.
I'm really tired today. Finished Tempting, ordered a Denise set. I may take a picture of Tempting tomorrow. I don't know if I will have the time.
The kitty is down to just $431. Maybe I'll buy some new Docs. That would bring me to 14 pairs of DMs. Josh would kill me or at least think about it. I did think about buying a few dvd sets. Mainly Family Guy and Futurama. I know, I know. I should have them already, but we've just neglected buying them.
I am feeling uneasy tonight. I hope everyone and everything is OK. Maybe it was the crazy lady that left a message on my voicemail for Johnny. I have no clue who Johnny is, but apparently he knows a drunk Spanish speaking woman in New York City. I looked it up.
Does anyone know anything about cooking ribs? My dad wants to make some tomorrow and I want to make sure he doesn't burn the place down. I'm a vegetarian so this isn't exactly my area of knowledge. He said he used to make them "back in the day" but I don't remember ever seeing him make them.
Thought stream done. Time for sleep.
Working... tired... lots to do...
I've discovered the key to getting me in the "zone". I have to put The Day After Tomorrow DVD in the dvd player and watch it on TV, not on my computer. I like having the noise, but I don't want it to be something I have to concentrate on. I watched that movie so many times while I was running my mom's store (while my grandmother was sick) that I have it memorized.
So far I have completed a design for a site. I got peeved when I couldn't figure out why something wasn't working in IE, but was working in everything else. Answer? I had forgotten to upload the fix file. Doh!
Also, while attempting to make some brownies, I apparently added three times as much liquid as needed. So, I managed to get a third of the liquid out and ended up just making a double batch. Josh was 'so' upset. I've cleaned the kitchen except for one pot and the pan the brownies are baking in. All that is left is to make lunch.
I think tonight I will finally finish tempting. I only have about two inches to finish and that shouldn't take too long. I did try it on. I won't be wearing it anywhere. It fits fine everywhere. The only problem is that it makes my bust look way too big. /sigh At least I will have finished it!
Holy carp. I just realized that I haven't even read my daily reads for the day. I said I was being productive!
I was going through my flickr account and looking at the photos I posted. I noticed there were some comments that I neglected to answer. Sorry.
My absolute favorite photo?
My cat is too damn cute sometimes.
I so knew it was him the "Others" were after.
I'm going to bed. Still feeling bad, but happy to have watched the season finale.
The past four or five days have been ... well they have been
Saturday, someone out of the blue said I was gorgeous. I'm not sure what that was all about as I was in a pretty rough looking state. I looked even worse when I told Josh about it. Thanks to having all of the car windows and sunroof open my hair was everywhere! This made Josh crack a smile. Anyhow. I also got a lot of knitting done. I probably have about 4 inches left to do on tempting. I don't plan on ever wearing it but now it is determination that is making me finish it. Damn it. I managed to teach a bit of knitting to some folks.
I got all my transcripts. I'm just waiting for the packet from the school. Gord what am I getting myself into?
Crap. I just had one of those moments. Thinking about my grandmother. Time to dry my eyes and put the clothes in the dryer. Nothing like laundry to get your mind off of things.
Don't forget that today is Towel Day! Today also happens to be 10 years from the day I was supposed to walk the stage at graduation. I don't regret not being able to. I wasn't able to due to my missing rehearsal the day before. I was on a plane flying back at the time. Oops
Last night was miserable. I just felt very ill and eventually was. On my way back I made it to the foot of the bed and just decided to sleep there. I was fine until Skittles decided that she wanted to sit in my lap and lick my face. Poor thing gave up and fell asleep around 12:30. I think the last time I looked at the clock it was 1:33. I still feel achy, but I think I will survive.
Today we all went to Shalyn's class play. It was cute. There were birds, crickets, frogs, turtles, horses, and lions. As well as the mice that did the opening and closing lines. Shalyn was a lion. They were all nervous, but darn cute. Two of the boys in the class appeared to have ADD, so that made it a little difficult. In the end, it was all just very cute. My brother took pictures, I may edit this entry later to add one.
Brittany came to the play as well. Since Wednesday is the last day of school, there isn't really much going on. She has gifted on Friday and they had a field day today. In other words, they goofed off all day.
I got a yarn catalog in the mail today. So many yummy yarns to pick. This is why I can't go into a yarn store. Crap, that reminds me that I need to get some yarn for my sister in law's birthday present. She wants me to knit her a purse and felt it. I'm thinking of just using some Paton's Merino in black. I can get that at Jo-Anns if necessary.
I don't know when they started it, but my hosting company is now requiring phone authorization for new accounts. That is just a little more than slightly irritating seeing as I won't be able to access my phone much this weekend! Grrr. I was hoping that I would get this stuff done today. It is something for the flying club. Hopefully they will call tonight.
Pffft. Way to go guys. Wouldn't it be interesting if he got off on a technicality.
U.S. Condemns Publication of Saddam Photos
LONDON - The U.S. military on Friday condemned a British newspaper's decision to print photographs of a captive Saddam Hussein, including one showing him in his underwear.A front-page picture in the tabloid Sun showed the former Iraqi dictator, clad only in white briefs, folding a pair of trousers. Another on an inside page showed Saddam hand-washing a piece of clothing.
The Sun said it obtained the photos from "U.S. military sources."
A statement by the U.S. military in Baghdad said the photos violated military guidelines "and possibly Geneva Convention guidelines for the humane treatment of detained individuals."
It said the source of the photos was unknown, but they were believed to have been taken more than a year ago. Saddam was captured in December 2003 and remains in custody. He is charged with war crimes, but no date has been set for his trial.
The military said it was "aggressively" investigating to determine who took the pictures.
"We take seriously our responsibility to ensure the safety and security of all detainees," the statement said.
OK, so this is knitting related, but it is also weird/cute. Lots of squeee/eek going on looking at these knitted stuffed animals. link via LJ knitting.
I want sleep, soon. CSI was effin great tonight. A little too emotional, but great! I am glad I remembered to watch it!
For my husband, a link to "The Most Powerful Diesel Engine In The World". It is causing my flashbacks to when we change the timing belt in our TDI. /shudders link via the BoingBoing archives
I am making chicken for the little ones. They actually like when I cook chicken, so there we go. There is a little groaning over the fact that they have to have a vegetable* too, but they'll survive.
*By vegetable I am referring to anything other than potatoes and corn on the cob. Spoiled? Yes.

All I have to say is, damn you knitty. Brittany and Shalyn are going to see the Blythe doll knit patterns and want some clothes for their dolls.
We got the new roof on November 1st and today I finally called to see why the permit affixed to the house was never pulled down. Apparently the person who did the final inspection failed to remove it. The lady seemed irritated that I had called so early (10 AM), so I opted to not even bother asking her about permits for building a shed. We'll leave that for another day, like sometime next week.
Yes, Brittany will be writing an essay this weekend.
I think I have light-saber elbow. AJ and I were light-saber fighting and all of the sudden my elbow started hurting. Oops.
Just as an update, I am trying to keep all of my knitting/sewing and craft related stuff in the "crafted creations" area. There is a feed for that area too, if you like. It is current in that I have posted entries and pictures of things that I have made and remembered to photograph before sending them off. I'm also trying to just post my craft talk over there as well.
Hrm, my knitting kitty is up to $429.28! I can only think of about $100 worth of stuff to get and that is stuff I need.
Haaa.. there is going to be a LOST convention in CA? I didn't know that there will also be a LoTR convention about 10 miles from here (and literally around the corner from my brother's place). Tolkien geeks and fan-girls and boys all weekend. Help.
How did I even manage to come across this information? I was looking for user icons for my livejournal and came across some for LOST. Someone had posted their resources and I discovered Lost-Media.com and again the link to the convention information.
I'm bored and am not feeling all too well. My eyes are hurting a lot. I'm thinking it is smog. Today is supposed to be really bad. At least that is what the new has been saying.
Well apparently a check from the US Treasury does have to clear. Now that is just silly. Josh deposited it this morning so I can balance the checkbook later. I over worked myself yesterday and am feeling it today. I'm achy and breaky. I have to get better so I can go out to dinner tomorrow night.
I think my big adventure will be me cleaning off the front porch. Ooh, the excitement. I will probably also knit a dress for Shalyn's Belle doll. Her clothes got lost somewhere and now the poor think is near nekkid. I managed to wrap her in some tartan fabric scraps. It was barely enough to cover the thing.
Yes, I think I will go start knitting it now. I'll have to write out the pattern since she has all of the little princesses they made. For some reason they never put out a Jasmine. I wonder what was up with that.
I did it kiddies! I requested transcripts. I have to write two essays for the application. Oi vey.
Does a check from the Department of the Treasury have to clear first? I never really thought about it, but now I am curious.
My dad forgot the keys to his shop today. He is going to probably be in a bad mood all day. He doesn't like for his morning routine to be messed with.
Does anyone else have issues with their cat insisting on sleeping in their carrier? Skittles refuses to get out of hers. That is one thing I learned, if you have issues getting your cat into the carrier, just put a warm blanket in there and leave it out for a few days. The only problem we ever have is getting her out. Addicted? Yes.
She finally updated her page, but you have to look at how she wrote the entry out. She sat there for twenty minutes composing it that way. At least she updated it. She wants to do a different picture for it. One without her glasses and without her squinting. Picky little kid.
I finally finished the back patio yesterday. Today I was supposed to watch AJ, but he decided he wanted to go with my mom to her shop. He doesn't love me, I swear. I guess I'll do yard work without him.
My great aunt Shirley taught us how to properly fold fitted sheets before she died. Of course we found out after that my mother knew the entire time and never once showed Gina and I. If you don't have an aunt Shirley, Target Australia has taken it upon themselves to show you how. (link via BigPinkCookie.)
I had a few skirts that I absolutely love. They are from before I lost weight. I gave everything except those skirts to charity. I finally decided to take them in today. Good grief did I have to take them in. I didn't quite realize how much I lost. I took in one skirt a little too much, but it is one that I don't plan on wearing too often. I look like a school teacher in it. I am just happy to be able to reclaim some of my skirts.
Today my brother and I did some work on my parents' front yard. We have pretty much decided on what to do out there but first we have to find the stuff. We need to purchase some more retainer wall bricks, but Lowes didn't have enough. We also need to buy some rubber mulch, sand and a few other odds and ends. Good gravy is it going to look like crap for a while. Stuff will have to grow in. I hate sod, so we are going the rough route and grow grass ourselves. I think I am pretty good at it though. I'm not too worried.
I have a confession. I can't stand flavored iced teas. I almost feel ill thinking about it. I'm sort of like that with my chai. I don't like adding spices to my chai. I like it basic with a little sweetener.
Today is Mother's Day. While we should always try to let our parents know how much we care about them, Hallmark has decided to make sure we remember. I made a card for my mom and gave it to her. It was full of stickers and very 8 year old ish. I think she liked it.
Today also marks the 60th anniversary of the surrender of Germany, aka VE Day (Victory in Europe Day).
Today I will try to finish sanding the back patio. Things to do keep popping up everywhere. I'll jump for joy if I can finally get a coat of primer on it.
Sweetness! A follow-up to my previous post on the lyrics, Pa has pointed us to a sing-a-long for the So Long and Thanks For All The Fish.
Also, I'm diggin this little flash number for viewing the time.
Oh, and for my knitting folks, Knitted Marvin pattern. See it in action. I can see some changes that I will make, but otherwise, it is pretty cool.
I don't know why, but I can't seem to get anything done. Oh, I know why! I am waiting for the turtles to finish eating. I need to clean their tank, but they are busy eating right now. It is rare that they all want to eat at once.
I want to get all of the little things done. I think I may go do some more sanding on the back patio today. I would like to finish it, wipe it down, and be ready to paint it tomorrow! Well, at least put one coat of primer on. The threatening clouds aren't doing much to help though.
I've kind of overworked these past few days. Manual labor work. Between sanding and compounding the ceiling, digging up all of the plants and trees close to the house, and assisting in science experiments, I'm tired. I took off yesterday and could have just slept all day, but didn't. I don't really remember what I did.
I am thinking of redoing my site now. I've worked on everyone else's and I guess it is time for me to do something for myself. Jeez, I should listen to my husband more often. Other than that, I think I will finish cleaning the kitty's water fountain.
Edit: In case anyone doesn't get to the comments, see my later post with links.
Because it was frustrating me, I sat down and listened to this blasted song about eight times and I think I got most of it. Here are the words to the So Long and Thanks for All the Fish song. The words in between the *s are as it is song at the beginning of the movie. Leave those out and you have the version from the closing credits. Oh and if you get a chance, check out Reasons to Be Miserable (His Name Is Marvin) by Stephen Fry. It's at the end of the soundtrack.
So long and thanks for all the fish
so sad that it should come to this
we tried to warn you all those years
you may not share our intellect
which might explain your disrespect
for all the natural wonders that grow around you.
So long, so long, and thanks for all the fish.
The worlds about to be destroyed
Theres no point getting all annoyed.
Lie back and let the planet dissolve ***all around you***
Despite those nets of tuna fish
We thought that most of you were sweet
especially tiny tots and your pregnant women.
So long, so long, so long, so long, so long, so long, so long, so long, so long, so long, so long, so long, and thanks for all the fish
****
If I had just one last wish
I would like a tasty fish
If we could just change one would thing
We would all have none to sing
???????

So long and thanks for all the fish
so sad that it should come to this
we tried to warn you all of those years (oh dear)
Despite those nets of tuna fish
We thought that most of you were sweet
especially tiny tots and your pregnant women.
So long, so long, So long, so long, So long, so long,So long, so long,So long, so long,So long, so long, and thanks for all the fish
I'm glad to hear that Hitchhiker's took the number one spot this week. I know for a fact it will fall next week. Kingdom of Heaven opens on Friday and there will be hords of young teenagers (and probably older women) flocking to see Orlando Bloom. I will be going to see it. Ridley Scott is one of my favorite directors. Just from watching the clips, I'm sold.
I just finished putting a second coat of drywall compound up. Josh did the first round and I am taking over now. I have a full list of things to do. I managed to knock two things off the list, but it still seems to keep getting longer. Tomorrow while the goo dries, I shall dig up the back garden. It will be messy. Oh crap, I forgot to buy grass seed.
Happy Beltaine!
Oh the irony that the first thing Shalyn started talking to me about this morning was fairies.
