A different kind of twenty questions

A quiz from glimpseofagrrl.com,

You are an SEDF--Sober Emotional Destructive Follower. This makes you an evil genius. You are extremely focused and difficult to distract from your tasks. With luck, you have learned to channel your energies into improving your intellect, rather than destroying the weak and unsuspecting.

Your friends may find you remote and a hard nut to crack. Few of your peers know you very well--even those you have known a long time--because you have expert control of the face you put forth to the world. You prefer to observe, calculate, discern and decide. Your decisions are final, and your desire to be right is impenetrable.

You are not to be messed with. You may explode.

I'd say that's pretty accurate.

Just something I have decided

I'm going to make a shirt. This shirt will say:

If I were God for a day people would FEEL my wrath.

Since so many wouldn't know what wrath means, along the bottom it would say...

wrath
n.Forceful, often vindictive anger.

1. Punishment or vengeance as a manifestation of anger.
2. Divine retribution for sin.

Nothing in particular happened, I just feel kind of... full of wrath right now. Down with evil-doers.

Stink

Excuse me while I vomit. Skittles just jumped on my desk and meowed right in my face. She is getting her teeth brushed soon! Bleck, I feel sick now.

In other news. I decided to wait until tomorrow to do the lawn. That way Josh and I can do it together. Plus, most of the front yard isn't really all that high. It's just one side that has some weeds popping up. Oh well.

I also made something today using one of the links in my craft section post. I didn't have the heart to shrink or even color it. It just looked good as it was.

One really shouldn't inhale too much bleach

I finished cleaning the bathroom about an hour ago. I noticed in the mirror that I was rather pale. Those that know me know this is no small feat considering the natural tan I have. Needless to say, I got out of there really fast. I guess having the window and outside door open didn't help enough.

I just posted a ton of links in my craft section, for those crafty visitors I have. I think one (maybe two) of them have been posted here, but I put them in that section because that is where they belong.

I may either do the lawn or play with the remaining shrinky dink sheets Josh got me a few holidays ago. As much as he tries not to, my husband supports my craft obsession as much as I support his airplane obsession. We both have gadget obsessions, but I am probably worse than he is in that area.

How to do stuff, gods, and knitting

Knitting Progress Tracker - For you knitters, here's a nifty idea to let everyone know just how much more work you have left to do on your works in progress.

GodChecker - "Your Guide to the Gods!" I can't recall if I have posted this one before, but with my love of mythology you can all just deal with it!

Howtoons - How to do fun and cool stuff. Instructions in comic format! I am not sure if my husband should be allowed to visit this site (He'll try to make the Shockwave Air Cannon)!

Getting high

So some kids "prank" called us. Basically asking for someone and then calling me a bitch. They blocked the call, so I called them assholes. Well they called back. I responded to the call with a blood curdling scream and hung up. I scared the crap out of Josh and my dad. Sorry. I didn't know my voice could get that high. They tried calling back a couple of times, but I just let it ring and go to the voice mail that doesn't exist.

If they call again tonight I'll make a complaint with the phone company and after that they get to deal with the police. They sounded like they were around 10 years old. Hopefully they will grow up, but more than likely they'll be dead from doing drugs in a few years. Of course, I'm not complaining.

More linky goodness

Ian's Shoelace Site - I'm printing out the instructions for when it is time for AJ to learn. I hope his learning shoe laces won't be as difficult as potty training!

AdTunes - Information and/or links to various music heard on tv and radio ads. I should send people to this site when they hear me playing J. Ralph's One Million Miles. I am constantly asked, "Isn't that the song in that one Volkswagen Commercial?" to which I reply, "Yes it is."

Old Superstitions - Seeing as superstitions were one of my favorite writing topics in middle and high school, this was of course added as a bookmark.

Tricky, tricky, tricky

Aww, they tricked us!

The US handed over sovereignty two days early! With all of the recent happenings, you had to figure that would be happening.

I just called my dad and asked him, "When did they do that?" He gave me the spiel. The thing is, I have been awake since six this morning. Josh has jury duty and they have to be there at the butt crack of dawn.

Hanging out with Shalyn today. Not sure what we'll do, but she's here.

Today's links:

Freaky scribbles

My bookmarks are getting backed up, so I figured I would post some of my more recent web surfing stops. Yesterday I was on a roll listing stuff, so I'm going to go a little slower now.

I played with the Scribbler for a little while and created a person. Then I ran the scribbler and it generated this freaky looking thing. I had to shut down the browser it freaked me out so much!

Other stuff. Carbwire has relevant low-carb related news. I like the recipes because generally they are no sugar and that is good for myself and my dad. The Southern Flair Deviled Eggs recipe is making me want to make some deviled eggs.

Cheap Cooking - I know this will come in handy for some people and might teach others to save.

Ill

I don't know why but I felt really sick a few minutes ago. I'm drinking plenty of water and I've eaten really well. Maybe my multi-vitamin disagreed with me and was trying to come up, I don't know. Maybe my body didn't want the three grapes I ate?

Feeling happy that things are finally starting to get going. Finished quite a bit of stuff yesterday and this morning.

Brittany is here and we walked around the neighborhood this morning. We found a yard sale and picked up a few odds and ends. She has started painting a cork board she got for $0.50 and will be adding some beads to the border. It's going to be groovy. I got, well, nothing for myself. I think the woman having the sale used to do silk flower arrangements. Brittany got a fake flower ring to use the flowers around her cork board border.

Which Book - Rate your mood and find a book to fit it. It is UK based, so not all of the books will be available on my side of the pond.

AirToons - A more organized setup of the classic airplane safety card parodies.

Memories of silly things

While it probably won't make anyone else laugh but myself, I just had a great flashback.

I was thinking of ridiculous commercials and the cast of characters in them. A long time ago (about four years ago) in a land far away (New Hampshire), we were making this commercial for a car dealership. My boss boss (the one I actually answered to) was playing the role of a Ross Perot look alike, named Ross Parrot. He did a really good imitation too. Anyway, one of the senior level folks at the car dealership was in the commercial pretending to be a member of the press. I just about died laughing when I saw him come through the studio door. He was wearing the classic black and white film trench coat and fedora. I checked to see if he had a sheet of paper with the word "Press" written on it and tucked into his hat, but he didn't. Still to this day I can't help but chuckle when I think of him. I can't remember his name, but that image of him is burned into my mind.

Playing the waiting game

I feel like I am constantly playing the waiting game. The poor person I have been doing work for has been waiting forever for an evil registrar to get the domain name fully propagated. It's been over a week and it shows up in SOME of the whois as changed, but not all of them. My ISP hasn't gotten the new stuff propagated to them yet. Therefore it goes to the old host, where the account has been canceled. I can't believe a company runs their business like this, but at least she'll be changing to a different registrar eventually.

Now I am waiting for us to get our internet connection back. I noticed I kept getting kicked off and managed to grab enough of the network status page to see that they were experiencing outages all over the area. Ugh.

I am trying to be calm about this, but it is getting really annoying. I think having Skittles sitting in my lap and acting like a kitten is helping me.

The Productivity Chant

Today I have been doing the productivity chant.

I will be productive
I will get things done
I have been productive
Things have been done

It seems to be working as I have finished the lawn work, gone and gotten two new cell phones and switched to a cheaper phone plan and have started organizing my papers. We weren't using enough minutes to justify spending that much on two phones, so we got the lowest family plan available and it's still twice as much as we have been using lately!

I'm going to be converting one of my favorite shirts into a bag. It doesn't fit and I love it too much to donate it. A bag would be useful for keeping my knitting stuff or just keeping things in general.

I should note that this bout of productivity was brought on because I have yet more work that needs to be done. Thankfully, I'm waiting for someone else to complete something before I can begin. Which incidentally is what is going on with another project I am working on. I seem to be doing a lot of waiting this week.

My plot to take a trip to Staples was foiled by my father. When I told him what we needed to get, he came to Josh's rescue and gave me a ton of manila folders. Is there something wrong with wanting to spend quality time with my husband at the office supply store? What is more romantic than holding hands and walking down the aisles looking at the assorted types of paper and envelopes. /just kidding ... or am I?

Duck Tape Jack and Sally

Ok, going through the Duck Tape "Stuck at Prom - 2004" entries and I found one of a couple who made Jack and Sally outfits! (Scroll down, it should be the last entry on the page.)

I was planning on voting for some other couple, but damn it, that has to be the best one, its Jack and Sally. For some of the more fancier ones, it looked like someone had to have helped them, but who knows.

My weekend

So, here's what has been wrong with me and what has been going on the past few days.

Migraines. Holy carp have they been bad. Well, I ended up getting ear infections as well which just made everything miserable. I'm doing much better now.

I've been running one of my parents' stores while my mother was away for five days. Now I am resting. Technically I am watching Shalyn and AJ, but they keep themselves busy on their own. This morning I set up a giant tent fort for them. That lasted about two hours. Later we had a lovely little picnic in the foyer. We had small sandwiches and lots of fresh fruit.

Now they are drawing pictures. Mother nature keeps threatening us with nasty clouds, so we haven't ventured outside yet. I don't like it when the forecast calls for "numerous thunderstorms" this afternoon.

I'm hoping this post goes through. We've been having a crappy connection here all day and it's ticking me off. I never even know if things have posted until about an hour later.

Holy Rain Batman

It's pouring outside. It's kind of windy too.

I've been quite busy the past few days. I've been working on a contract and still dealing with my migraines. I'm ok sitting at my computer for the most part. I just keep a glass of water nearby and I am good to go. Sleeping is a different story. If I want to sleep, I need to try to go to sleep at least two hours before. My migraines have always been the worst when I try to sleep. I've been applying pressure trying to relieve the pain that I now have a bruise there. Yeah, this sucks. Looking through the archives of my life, I had a two week migraine episode almost a year ago.

In my bouts to work through my pain, I worked on my contract, reorganized my yarns and fabrics (at 1am) and started two more knitting projects. I can't mention the exacts yet due to the fact that one of the recipients reads miftik.com. Some of the other readers know who this is. Don't worry, they aren't scarves and they aren't hats. One is going to take F-O-R-E-V-E-R and the other will be done soon, but I want to make more of them (make it a set), so I should finish all of those by tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Ok, well it's supposed to get real nasty in about 10 minutes, so time to shut down.

Oops

All week I kept forgetting to order my Knit Your Bit kit. Apparently, it was a good thing. Sticking to my one purchase a week rule, I scored... a crap load of fabric for about 10-15 cents a yard. (quite a few different fabrics/prints) and two skeins of yarn that were 75% off! The fabrics are really nice, so I don't know what I want to make with them. I am very tempted to make a purse out of the black one with flames, but I can't decide. I also got a cro-hook kit dirt cheap too. I'm not too big on crochet, but maybe Brittany will like it.

Time to go give Skittles a splash of birthday milk. She turned seven today!

Growing up too fast

I think little miss Brittany is growing up too fast. Yesterday she was given... her cell phone. She's only allowed to use it on the weekends, even though there are plenty of minutes on the plan. She will be working her way up to full time usage by being more responsible. It's more for emergency purposes, but also a responsibility test. Hopefully she will pass!

No big anniversary plans. I'll just spend some time with the hubby at the house, maybe catch a movie together. Since the government (and everything else it seems) is closed for a national day of mourning, we can't run any errands.

Work through the pain

Gawd I must be annoying to live with! I have been dealing with these migraines for a while. The past two days have been the worst in about two years. I don't know why, but it sucks big time. (I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the quick change in the weather. We may never know.)

I have come to believe in mind over matter. Even though I felt like having a Pi moment and drilling out the side of my head, I decided to be productive through my pain. While enduring the migraine, I mowed the entire front yard and both sides of the house. I've also managed to do two loads of laundry. After all of that, guess what. My migraine is barely here. Go me! I had been hoping to read a book or two today, but I think too much inactivity may make things worse.

Posted by miftik at 01:54 PM

Pain, pain, go away

You have no idea how much I want to buy one of these t-shirts. Hopefully I won't it need it after January. (link courtesy of web-goddess.org)

I'm battling a massive migraine right now and should have my head buried under a pillow, but that is just as painful as typing this. I figured I might as well be productive through my pain. If chocolate really did open the blood vessels more, I'd eat it at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I think my not eating much today may have contributed to this one being so bad.

This guy I know

So, about eight years ago, I knew this guy. He was cute and nice and we got along great. By the summer, we were really good friends. He just made me happy. Eventually we moved in together and "lived in sin" for three wonderful years. Then it happened.

Around this day, five years ago, we both went into work late. That morning we went and filed for a marriage license. A total of about six people knew were were getting married (including the county clerk). I didn't even tell my bosses, just a few co-workers and Josh's boss at the time. I tended to make my own schedule since no one actually knew what I really did. I just scheduled myself to not work the upcoming Friday afternoon.

So, over eight years after we became more than friends, I still love you Josh.

Deaths and passing

You know, I don't think closing the stock market is necessarily the best way to mark someone's death. I liked President Reagan and while I may not have shared in most of his beliefs, he was still a good man. However, closing the markets for any president's death is not the way to mark it.

Tickling

For the past few days I have been getting these weird sensations on my scalp. It feels like someone is tickling my scalp in a one inch section. Or maybe it's the same sort of sensation when someone plays with your hair. Just an odd feeling.

Well today it was accompanied by an odd feeling in my nose. Now, I've just gotten over a really annoying nose bleed. I imagine it is probably all a coincidence, but it is still weird.

Reagan

Holy crap.. Ronald Reagan has died.... He's the first president that I really remember. Uh... I need to go.

My psychic me

I was planning on going for a little walk this morning. After having loaded up my clie, I went to go get my socks and shoes on. Something told me not to bother. I decided to listen to myself. My throat is now on fire. That would have sucked being a couple of miles away from home and hurting like this. I don't know what it is all about, but it hurts like you know what. I guess I'll just get exercise doing yard work or something. That of course depends on whether the ground gets a chance to dry before it rains again.

Did I forget to mention that the afternoon rains are back! The poor dying grass is just loving it!

I'm going to go work on a chart for my knitting. I want to knit Frank. I think I have found a picture of the evil cuddly bunny that will work good for conversion to a chart. Muuhahaha.

Azkaban

So yeah, we saw it. I've promised myself I won't write about the details until Sunday afternoon. That way people will have had a chance to see it and I won't feel bad if I tell them about something they haven't seen yet.

I'm dead tired and the girls have fallen asleep. I may take a nap too if Skittles will let me.

I liked the movie, but some things bothered me. It's still a good movie. David Thewlis as Lupin was very nice. Of course there isn't all that much of Gary Oldman, but he did a good job as Sirius black.

That's all for now. I need a nap.

Change of plans

Change of plans. I'll be going at o'dark thirty to see PoA. Welcome to my life people, one big change of plans after another. /sigh

I guess I should try to get a wink of sleep or two. Gord I'm going to be dragging tomorrow.

Posted by miftik at 10:52 PM

Come back to me

I'm having a time recalling any of the little Italian I once knew. A few words here and there I know.

I won't be seeing PoA tomorrow. Our schedules have all been rearranged and I just don't think I'll be able to go.

I fixed the sidebar and I even sort of finished my craft area. I still have some projects that aren't up yet and I need to retake some of the pictures. I'm working on finishing it though, slowly.

I didn't watch any other movies after Pi. I don't think I could handle any more emotion roller coasters. Besides, my head started to hurt and that sucks.

We FINALLY got rain! It's been so long since we had a thunderstorm that Skittles freaked out and followed me around the house everywhere. Josh finally convinced her that she should go above the dryer and she's been there for about four hours now. We've got the occasional rumble, but I think the storm has finished with us.

Posted by miftik at 09:05 PM

Movie-a-thon

I'm watching lots of movies today. I've gone through quite a few emotions so far. Big Fish, Donnie Darko, and Pi. I haven't decided what to watch next.

The guy came by to check the pressure washer. I told him it needed a new gas tank and that the other one had cracked. I'm extremely curious as to how it cracked, but apparently it's a typical problem. This is not something I want to hear. But, it is covered, so they ordered the part and when it arrives, I will call them.

Other than that, I'm waiting for Josh to call me and let me know whether I should be registering a domain and setting up a site for "the old guys" at the field. They're a goofy bunch of old guys that meet on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to fly.

Things to do today:
Change my sidebar links (fix snye.net's link and add witchymom.net to the list).
Work on craft section so I don't babble so much about crafts here. (I may install WordPress for this.)

This all of course depends on whether my eye stops twitching sometime soon.

Knit your bit kits available

Yeah, the Knit Kits are available. (informed via web-goddess.org) I will be ordering mine probably next week. I'm trying to limit myself to no more than one knitting/craft related purchase a week. I bought some yarn on Monday, so I'm screwed for the rest of the week.

Fireplace

I hate it when Mother Nature comes and gives you a kick in the pants. But, she knows what she is doing, so I won't be mad at her.

Doing some blog hopping I came across this little baby days ticker that would be good for my brother's baby. (found at a little bliss, that I found via gingerbreadwisdomplum, that I found via one of my regular reads, snazzykat)

I'm awaiting Josh's return from the nook so that we can sit around the proverbial fireplace and listen to the "radio". In other words, I want to finish listening to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban CD, but he is in the other room. Oh wait, he's here now.
