Where did all the good repairmen go?

I've been sitting around waiting for the repairman to come and check on the refridgerator. It was acting up last week, so we called a repairman out. He took a look and figured either the temperature sensor or the timer needed to be replaced. It's under warranty, so I don't care. I just want the thing to work properly. Well, he didn't have the parts in his truck, so he had to order them and we rescheduled to have someone come out between 8am and noon today.

It is now close to 1PM. Apparently they have us down for sometime between 8am and 5pm. What the F#$K is up with that? Does their computer system just not work at all or are they stupid? Gawd. I'm not very happy. The actual technician is supposed to be calling me any time now to see if I want to reschedule. A part of me wants to, but the logical side of me wants to just get it over with. If he's going to be late getting here, I might try to reschedule it. I'm just pissed. Where did all the good repairmen go?

Astral Moment

Whoa, I have been sitting here checking my mail and making sure life was fine and all of the sudden I felt like I was sitting outside on the patio. It happened again a minute later. I haven't done that in a while.

I've been painting the patio and really should get back out there before I start hurting. I'm 3/4 of the way done, but the last 1/4 is the most difficult. It's trim and the one small wall with all of the odds and ends on shelves next to the wall. In other words, I have to start moving stuff now. Ugh.

I learned something while painting.
1) Don't let the cat chase lizards under and up the 10 ft ladder you are standing at the top of.
2) It's really best to turn off the ceiling fans before painting the ceiling.

I got into a zone and just started painting. All of the sudden I heard a thud and felt the pain. I am surprised I didn't fall off the ladder. I have the extension poles for the roller, but I hate using those. The coats aren't as even. So, I'm starting to feel a little pain and can see the bruises already, under my paint covered hand.

I'll recap everything later. I really should get out there before I get too settled.

Fighting it off

Apparently our neighbors have installed a wireless network. Their signal reaches us. It would seem that they are also running an unsecured wireless network. I was able to hop right on and surf. I'm tempted to run over to the few houses around and give them a gentle hint about it not being good having their network open like that.

I'm also fighting some sort of bug. I felt miserable yesterday and today hasn't started off to well either. I may have gotten it from Brittany. She had a fever of 102.7 a couple of days ago.

While trying to stay sane yesterday I started looking at icons and avatars. I found some for The Boondock Saints. I love that movie. I'm a little anxious about the upcoming Boondock II: All Saints Day. It's the original cast and crew, so I feel a little better.

/sniff sniff. I think my brunch is ready.

Full Circle

My life has just come full circle. My niece is eating her cereal while watching Fat Albert, and she is laughing!

I am charging my camera batteries right now. The kids, my mother, and I are going to the park in about an hour. My youngest niece helped me pack a little cooler for us. It's just waters, but the little things like that make her happy.

I did a massive cleaning yesterday. There is enough stuff in the trash pile to fill the trash bins for a few weeks. We have two of the large bins and they pick up twice a week. It's a WHOLE LOT of stuff. I need to dispose of an old lawnmower, two exercise machines, a display shelf, and a whole crap load of other stuff.

Also on my list of things to do today:
Build a bike rack.
Build a tool rack.
Gather the various items I piled on the back patio and take them to the attic.
Chop down two little banana trees trying to creep up where they can't live.

What I did yesterday:
Cleaned the garage.
Took apart a weight bench and packed it up.
Packed about 300lbs worth of weights.
Took apart a broken lawmower.
Took apart an old exercise machine. My brother did the other one on Monday
Made a stylin' cute little monster. It sort or resembles a tooth with arms, legs, and ears. (It was craft night at Casa Miftik. Brittany made bead bracelets, Shalyn played with fabric, and AJ, well he played on the computer.)

Time to get the kids ready for the park. Need to find the basketballs and soccer balls. I may take my Stawberry Shortcake micro kite with me.

It has to be a sign

So I worked on my bookmarklet this morning. In reality, it's not a very difficult thing to create. But for some reason I can't get the data to send to the form. Ugh. Then, while working on it my machine crashed before I was able to save anything of value. That sucked.

Skittles was asleep earlier and starting hissing like crazy in her sleep. It scared the crap out of me.

I'm broken, put me back together

Woke up around 5:45 A.M today. Brittany had her birthday party today. Preteens, a five year old and a fussy little nephew. Oh man am I tired. I managed to clean up everything. Go me.

Before getting ready for the party I spent some time working on a bookmarklet. I have gotten half way there. I think I am too tired to work on it tonight. I may try for tomorrow, I don't know. It's a bookmarklet to add links to my link database. I only worked on it for about a half hour before having to stop. Just long enough to decide what variables I needed and all. I feel confident.

Last night I worked on redirects for SkittlesCam. I changed the site over to php a while back and some people haven't updated/checked their links. Some links I didn't redirect because people steal my bandwidth. Grrr.

Time for a nap. My back hurts and I just can't stay awake.

Projects for me

Ok, new projects I'm going to undertake.

First off will be this super easy little tote bag. After that will be a sock dog for Shalyn. My big project will be this knitted cat bed! It's a test run for me and it's a fun thing for Skittles. If the cat bed drives me nuts, I may make one of these cute little fruit hats.

Oh, I should also mention that I have a secret project that I started today, but I can't reveal it until it is finished. You'll understand why later. It's for a good reason.

I'm tempted to make the purse tonight, but I'm afraid the sewing machine may keep Josh awake. Maybe I can cut everything tonight and start in the morning.

Wireless camera

I've been saying for years that someone needed to make an easy to use wireless camera, and now they are all over the place! Linksys has a really nice one! Yeah! Now if only Josh would let me buy it!

Well, time to set up my scanner. I kind of forgot to do it when I reloaded my machine. Same with my tablet. Now that I need them both I need to install them. Oops.

Automotive Easter Egg

Does anyone else find it amusing that there is a hidden easter egg in an automobile? More specifically, in the BMW M3.

I read this a while ago, but never got around to posting the link. I thought I should now. Just because.

Brittany's birthday
Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Brittany!
You're 10 now!

Time to go wrap some presents!

Oh and Happy St. Patrick's day to those who celebrate it.

You want me to do what?

I woke up really early this morning to make breakfast for Josh. My mom's plane was late, so we were pretty late getting home. In order to let him sleep a little later, I fixed him breakfast.

I'm not sure if I will even get to post this, but I will try. A pretty nasty blob of storms is heading this way and more than likely the power will go out here and there. Lots of red on the radar. I imagine I won't get too much done until noon. /sigh

I haven't checked in on BoingBoing in a while, but when I did I found the best links...

Print, Cut, and Fold Paper Japanese Robots
Print, Cut, and Fold Paper Toys

I was always a fan of cut-em-outs, so I really like these links.

Crikey, it's thundering something fierce now, time to go.

Stop it!

Someone has signed up for information online using my address. They signed up for information (check cashing brochure, free crest toothpaste samples, and other junk mail) and now I just got a call from Ameriquest asking for this person. The guy from Ameriquest was really nice and even told me that it is a Yahoo! UK email address that he used. I have a cousin who has this person's name, but he is not in the UK and as far as I know, doesn't know this address. But if it is him, I have a feeling he will be getting his a$$ reamed by my father who is tired of the crap coming from that general direction.

In other news... I hear that someone is coming in December!!! K, her family, and more cousins. I believe my dad is calling later to find out more, so I will wait until then.

I realized a few days ago that I am actually a size smaller than I was when I graduated high school. However, I am almost three inches taller (I thought I stopped growing, but apparently I didn't) and my weight is a little more. Go me!

I discovered points.com will convert your airline miles into other things, like gift certificates. I have enough for a ticket, but the rules and restrictions suck and I figure I might as well use them for something I want, before they expire. I also have a ton of points that I can exchange through other programs. In the end I could probably get about $150 or more in Gift Certificates. I'm kind of tempted to buy a dvd burner for my computer. I need a new burner and I might as well get something that I will eventually want. I just don't know what I want!

Time to get ready for the arrival of the munchkins.

Me tired, what about you

Yesterday was exhausting. I sat in front of my computer last night and didn't have the energy to type.

Josh is at work and the house is empty. Skittles is being cute. She just had a dose of catnip. The kids will be coming over in a few hours. It's a teacher workday, so the girls don't have school. No picnic outside today, it's cloudy and is supposed to rain today. Oh well. Maybe we can have it inside.

Tonight mum comes home. But for now I need to get some work done.

Electric Company

Today was a good day. Basic cleaning was done, bikes were rode and Jeeps were driven. Oh and the kids and I had a picnic in the backyard. Brittany missed out, she decided to hang out with her dad all day. Tomorrow she will hang out with me instead and I will see all three of them again on Monday, hopefully. If the weather holds, we'll probably have another picnic.

Some link fun found via milkandcookies.com
The Electric Company Archive
The Singhsons

Now to figure out some music for tomorrow. I imagine her royal highness will want me to bring some Evanesence with us. She's already made requests for what food to eat. So far we've got Vanilla Yogurt bar or something, cantelope, apples, and anything other than water. I believe I may be threatening her with apple juice tomorrow morning. Please don't let her think about what movies to take with us.

Knitting in my dreams

You know you've either gone off the deep end or are extremely tired when you have a dream that you are knitting with knitting needles over three feet long. That was my dream last night. They were blue needles and I managed to handle them correctly after a while. I don't know what I was knitting, just that the needles, end to end, were longer than I was tall.

The drive was quick. We headed to o-town to search out a location. I didn't win the lotto. I'm ready for bed. That has been my update. More relevant stuff another time. I'm tired.

LJing from Mars

Like omg, where have I been? Opportunity and Spirit have their own livejournal. It's silly but cute.

Josh and I have to take a ride. We'll be home later.

Not again

You'd have thought that someone in the Bush camp would think it was not a good idea to let campaign fundraisers spend the night in the Lincoln bedroom after the Republicans made such a big stink about it with the Clinton Administration. It should just be an unwritten rule that if someone is raising money for your campaign, don't invite them for a sleepover. It looks bad!

I'm starting my day late today. First we had to take my mom to the airport at 5am. She's arrived and should be with my grandmother at the hospital. My grandmother is undergoing chemotherapy again and it's doing a number on her emotionally. She will be back Monday night. After we finally got some sleep, we've gotten some minor tasks done around the house and will be going to take my dad some lunch momentarily. I'm stealing this update time while I make my dad something.

As soon as we get back, it's back to work for me. Fun!

Pimping stuff for my friend

I thought I should put this up...

My friend is ebaying off some "The Maxx" Comic books. You may remember The Maxx from MTV's liquid television. He has other stuff too, so give them a look.

Other stuff of interest. I thought I should post a link to IrfanView. I've loved this little program for years and I don't think I have ever linked to it.

This post is brought to you by a break from working. Have you taken a break today?

Today my mom did something very few of us expected. Today she threw away a ton of stuff! I think a total of seven boxes were reduced to one and a half! Go mom! I should mention the half was full of Lincoln Logs of AJ's. She wanted to do more, but realized she didn't have time.

Well, I think I shall finish this break by making a spinach pie to go with dinner.

Knitting stuff

I finished my rainbow hat. I just used a cheap multi colored yarn from wallyworld and think it is quite cute. I have enough to make a matching skinny scarf, but that's it. Of course now that I have finished that, I must begin making AJ's army hat. It's a light multi-colored (somewhat fatigue like) yarn. AJ saw it and asked me to make him an army hat. I started last night and finished two rounds but fingers hurt.

I was bugging out the other day because I could have sworn I had a lot shorter knitting needles, but I just couldn't find them. Well I found them. They were in my Roly-Kit that I got a long time ago ($0.50 at a thrift store for the thing, go me). I had never really liked the roly-kit when I saw it on tv, but for that price I couldn't pass it up. It fits lots of my craft and sewing stuff in it perfectly!

So anyway, I have spent most of my day cleaning this room. I've organized my fabrics and yarn. I put all of my knitting needles into an empty vase that was sitting around. I even packed up some of my unused stuff. A lot of electronics were packed up. I can't believe I packed up two of the web cams. It was kind of sad. I also packed up two usb hubs and a crap load of power cables. I love my gadgets, it was hard to pack them up. I don't think I will ever be able to actually sell anything should I have to.

I have to work on my sister-in-laws birthday gift. I can't say what it is just incase she sees this post before her birthday.

I am still working on some projects, but the cleaning is a break I needed. I shall be going back to work on it later. Emails will be managed later.

Maybe I should make a craft section of my site so this stuff doesn't bog down the regular stuff. I don't know, we'll see.

Oh and Brittany was making a list of things to put on her site. So far we have the journal and writing log that are already there. New will be her Top 10 list, book reviews, and movie reviews. That little 10 year old is going to be busy.

Holy smokes

Wow, that was fast. I registered a domain for Brittany last night and it's already resolving! Wow. I am leaving the look of the site up to her. She can use the look of her old site if she wants or we can work after school on a new look. It's completely up to her.

Something is up with Skittles. All morning she's been meowing like a kitten. Just a few minutes ago I was here at my computer and Josh was in the other room watching the news. Skittles was standing in the side hall between us meowing and looking around the corner. She's now getting her catnip on and watching for birds and other creatures outside.

She's Alive

I'm alive. Just fuddling around with some work and dealing with a migraine from hell. Dude it sucks.

I am probably going to head to sleep real soon. I've just felt off this afternoon. Maybe I never fully recovered from being sick, I don't know. It could be the bass-ackward weather we've been having. Mother Nature decided we should have summer early. High 80s tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday then back down into the 70s for the next week. At least this is what the forecast is.

v. forecast
A prediction, as of coming events or conditions.

I may register a domain for Brittany tonight. She wants one so I'm inclined to get it for her for her birthday. Gawd, she's almost TEN! ONE-ZERO... Holy carp, it's time for the talk. My brother and sister-in-law are so not looking forward to it. My brother realized a few months ago that next year in school they have the "my body and me"-type lesson that girls and boys go to. I remember mine. We were seperated into classes and we watched videos and got these little booklets about our bodies. The boys all wanted to look at our books. It had forbidden information in it. This should be quite interesting. Maybe a trip to the library is in order. Anybody have any recommendations?

Spam, oh the comment spam. Part of me wants to close off comments on the older posts, but I still get relevant questions regarding them. I am trying to just deal with it. We'll see.

Wrap Up

I'm fighting with what seems like every ounce of strength to stay awake. I'm really tired. Yesterday I did a ton of work out in the yard and today was a day of rearranging furniture and cooking. I still don't think I should be as tired as I am. I don't want to go to sleep early because then my schedule will be off tomorrow.

I've recently discovered sugar-free Jolly Ranchers! For those low/no-carbers, they are no carbs either. They don't have them listed on their site, otherwise I would link to them. They taste just like the originals too. Even Josh has taken to them.

For future reference, Better Homes & Gardens has a pretty good Knitting Basics area. I'm going to let Brittany look through it next time she is over. Speaking of the munchkin... I'm debating getting her a domain of her own. I think it's something none of her friends will have and she might get some use out of it.
