I've got Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell stuck in my head. I think I am singing it because I'm missing two things. My laser printer and MI:5
I want to print out a huge mass of stuff, but my laser printer is in storage and I can't justify using the ink jet printer to print out that much. It would be a waste of money.
I was also really hoping to watch MI:5 today, but it won't be on again until next week. It's like when I was a teenager. I had to keep an eye out for Cracker. Holy carp! Amazon.com has Season One and Season Two. Sweet! Season Two has probably my favorite episode ever, "To Be A Somebody" and Season One has "One Day a Lemming Will Fly" which is my second favorite episode. I don't know why I loved this show so much, but I did. Oh, Season Three will be released in April. I must make a note of that. Season 1 of MI:5 is also available now. Yeah. And for more British Crime dramas, check out Prime Suspect: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Of course two and three are being released at the end of February, four and five will be released in mid-April. Patience will be my friend.
In other news. Have I ever mentioned how much I envy Audrey Carol aka token chick's costuming skills?
I'm slowly cleaning up my bookmarks. I just have so many un-filed, it's crazy. I recreated my database of links but need to go through them again. Maybe one day. I'm still organizing my fonts as well. Maybe I can finish organizing both this weekend.
Having a little fun playing Connect4 and Pong, Rock Face Rescue, and a little snow peeing. I also found a space invaders remake. I'm kind of afraid to show it to Josh. There's also a nice version of Shanghai Mahjongg. OK, I think that cleaned up my bookmarks for a bit. Time to eat some dinner, a little late.
I thought I could do it today. I thought Josh and I could go and run errands all day today. Alas, I only made it about half way. I had to have Josh take me home, I felt horrible. I don't quite know what it was all about, but it was weird. I made myself a sandwich and now here I am.
OK, Oscar talk time. I was really surprised to see Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider) on the list. Not to say she didn't do a great job, I was just surprised. She's now the youngest nominee for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Note to Anna Paquin fans, she won for Best Supporting Actress. Before today, Isabelle Adjani held the "title" for youngest nominee at age 20 for her work in The Story of Adele H.' I'm surprised that at least one of the Return of the King boys didn't make best male or best supporting male, but the selection is a pretty good bunch none the less.
Well the primaries are ending in a few hours. Gawd, I hate this time of year. That is all they will talk about in the news tonight and it's not like the NH Primaries even matter anymore. /sigh Considering that since the Old Man of the Mountain fell down last year, all they have left are Mt. Washington and the primaries. Well, maybe granite too, but I'm not sure if that is too much to be excited over.
Tomorrow morning I'm keeping my fingers crossed. What happens this year determines whether I lose my faith in them. That is all.
I just received a piece of e-mail in the form of support for General Wesley Clark. I used one of my spam filtering programs to view the code. It was an e-mail harvesting e-mail. Interesting.
I'm posting this for future reference. A Stitch Dictionary for embroidery and needlework. Also, some great templates for BOS or Celtic designs.
Josh and I settled in late this evening/ early this morning and watched some NASA TV. Opportunity landed successfully (so far) and a whole horse load of politicians were there to "congratulate" everyone. Arnold S, Al Gore and of course local congressmen. Well, at least they cared.
I'm glad it made is safely, but now back to work. Spirit is sick and needs to be healed!
Side note: Anyone notice NASA's M2K4. I think it is so catchy it is cute!
/sigh
I've been cleaning up all day and after hours of attic scurry time, I finally decided I should rest and maybe see what is on. I was hoping to catch MI:5 (aka Spooks). Apparently I missed it by an hour. I'll probably pick it up on DVD when it comes out. So now I am watching the end of Empire Records.
I've lost my winter coat. Technically I know exactly where it is but I have lost it to the cat. She has grown to love sleeping in it. It reflects heat back really nicely and is quite soft. Needless to say, she's taken it over.
After all of the cleaning today, I need a nap. I really need food too, but I'm too tired to fix anything. How pathetic is that? /sigh
Oh my. The cuteness is killing me. Hey Ya, the Peanuts video. Link via del.icio.us.
Calhoun Have a great bday (and vacation) my dearest friend.
Ha! I'm watching the State of the Union address. President Bush stated that the Patriot Act was set to expire soon and the Democrats all clapped before he could say anything. The look on Bush's face was priceless.
Anyone participating the the State of the Union 2004 Drinking Game? I think some people are probably drunk by now and it hasn't even been 20 minutes!
While I'm waiting for him to say anything relevant, let's recap my day.
I was feeling a little funky so I just sat in one spot. It just happened to be at my desk. (Well, at least my chair reclines) I worked on a new design for this site. It seems to be working out quite nicely. I am just trying to tweak the stylesheet to make me happy.
Something must be up with my hearing because I thought he said "Our Nooodies" instead of "Our Duties" and I know for sure he just said itly instead of Italy. There is an A in there you know.
OK, I just thought of something. Maybe I should make a valentine's day layout and save my other one for after valentine's day. It's an idea. If I get bored and can't sleep tonight, I'll know what to do.
Condoleeza Rice looks like she's been crying. That's not good. She needs to look strong and brave. There's no crying in politics! Hey, he just told congress to be cheap and reform immigration laws. Hey, health savings accounts. Now we can save money to pay our inflated health care costs! Nice. :: rolls eyes :: Fundamental should have been on that drinking game.
Since this is a somewhat of a political post, let's post some basic links to remember.

Abstinence, wasn't expecting that one. Marriage, it finally came up. According to him, judges are forcing their arbitrary will upon the citizens and apparently we must defend the sanctity of marriage. Yeah, two people who love each other should be allowed to marry. I don't care if they are the same gender or not, love is love. Oh he jumped right to faith based charities. Now he's talking prisoner "re-entry" initiatives including job training. Maybe I need to go to jail so I can get free training!
Is there any particular reason why Tom Brady of the New England Patriots should be seated three seats behind the President's Wife. Wow, under one hour. He didn't get any lengthy applause though.
I don't give to the kettles.
When the holidays come around and the bell ringers are out, I don't give them my change. I refuse to give them anything other than volunteered time. I've seen how they spend their money and it's a waste. It's disgusting how much money they spend on crap. Gee, so and so needs a personal vehicle, let's give them a brand new Suburban to drive around town. Oh, this individual is being transfered. They get to remodel the house to their liking. Oh they are retiring, let's give them a home and let them remodel it on us. I remember this crap from childhood and from recent. You are supposed to be living a life of servitude but you can still have all these material things anyway. I'd almost join, just for those damn perks!
New virus out and about. I stopped using an address book a long time ago. I now have three filters going through my mail. I maintain too many sites to deal with spam and viruses. People I don't even know have me in their address books. I can't stop them from sending me problems, but I can stop them before they become problems!
Can you tell I am feeling better? Well, I think it has more to do with the fact that I finally got to go for a walk today. I'm still working down from the adrenaline and figured I ought to try and be more productive while I can.
I switched Skittles' site over yesterday. I added Google ads to most of the pages. The diary archives are the only ones that don't have it yet. I need to finish cleaning that template up and deciding exactly what I want to do with it. Yesterday was a highly productive day. The irony was that I felt my worst yesterday. Strange thing this cold I have. Very strange indeed.
I've got an old Cher song stuck in my head. Actually, it's just one line and it's on repeat. That sucks.
I'm sick and it sucks. This is day three without a voice. I managed to talk a little while the kids were over. They thought it was fun that my voice was weird. Shalyn kept asking what happens if your voice goes away and will it be gone forever. AJ was working on a puzzle and as I walked over to him, he turned and looked at me and told me that I was sick. It was just too cute for words.
I made a lovely little font of my handwriting at fontifier.com (found via geekgrrl.com), two versions actually. One was a little grungey and one was clean. I was thinking of making a dingbat but I'm feeling to miserable right now.
I think I need a nap. I can't breathe nor stand up for long. This sucks royally.
I decided to give Josh a break today and let him do what he wanted to do. So, today I took the girls to see Return of the King. Brittany has already seen it, but was dying to go again and Shalyn wanted to see it too. They had to pay their own ways in. They both made straight A's on their report card, so they used their money to buy their tickets and also do a little shopping before the movie. A good day in all. I bought a Harry Potter stationary set and a few other odds and ends. I might go back and get some of the other Harry Potter stuff they had. Great little stocking stuffer gifts and birthday goodies.
I've been getting some work done lately, but I have had to multitask like crazy. My most productive time seems to be around 10pm. I'm not exactly sure why, but it works.
One day I'll start including links again. As it stands, it has taken me almost an hour to compose this wee little post. Gah, oh well. Maybe I'll finally get to email people who have emailed me.
Today is a day, just like any other day.
The weather outside is beautiful. Josh and I walked for a little over one and a half miles. AJ came over this morning and we cleaned up his jeep and rode around the block a few times. He's getting pretty good at the steering, he just needs to work on going forward and reverse at the appropriate times. Then again, he is only three.
I did something Monday I didn't want to really do. I joined Google AdSense for Skittlescam.com. I haven't really put the ads where many people can see them, but eventually they will be visible. I'm working on redoing the layout over there, so they will be incorporated.
There is talk of rain. It was supposed to be here by 2 PM but by the looks of the satellite imagery, it won't be here for a couple of hours. It is currently 73° outside. It has been in the 80s the past few days
Hmmph, complete brain lapse there for a second. I forgot the code to make the degree symbol. Time to go play with the munchkin. He wants to drive his jeep, but the batteries are charging.
Note: Books on tape are not Spoken Word. I was a little irritated to find audio books with the spoken word. Like sifting through the names and titles isn't already hard enough!
I was productive everywhere today except where I really wanted to be. Some stuff has been pushed to the back burner even though I really wanted to finish them. I have emails to respond to, but no time.
I managed to get some stuff done yesterday, but not as much as I had hoped.
Skittles is being a major pain tonight and I am having one of those "why do we have a cat" moments.
I need sleep.
We made it home, but we are really tired. I did a little unpacking, but none of it was really clothes. We had tons of boxes of stuff. I started putting things in boxes that need to go into storage too. Came home to insurance bills (that we need to call and find out why they have gone up) and a couple of rebate checks. Cool. I think we are supposed to get $200 more soon but I'm not sure.
I'm going to clean off the couch and take a nap. I really need a nap.
Calhoun, your packaged arrived there safely... THANK YOU!!! Love it! Thank you. I will catch up reading later.
