Just Shy

Well, I went with my sister-in-law to take the kids trick or treating. We were out there just shy of two hours. I laughed so much watching them. Shalyn was Madeline and Brittany was Arwen. I got pictures but I am really tired. I planned to send out some emails, but I'm ready to hit the bed now. I was ready an hour ago, but we were just finishing the candy inspection/sort. Tons of candy bars and quite a few taffies. Taffy is good, in small doses. Well, I'm going to bed. Hope everyone had a good Halloween and a wonderful Samhain.

One year ago

One year ago today Josh and I drove with our belongings in a Budget truck and began the drive of our new life. We arrived around this time at his parents. It was about halfway between our start and finish. A good break. We have had fun with our time off. We've been tested and we've made it. Yeah for us.

trick or treat for UNICEF
When you take your children trick or treating this year, don't forget to Trick or Treat for UNICEF. Get a box, do it online, or do it through a coinstar machine at your local grocer. It's simple and easy. Even if you decide not to do a box. It's not really hard to dump the change in your pocket into the Coinstar machines. Why not give it a whirl. It's for a good cause.

Never fails

It never fails. When I can finally start on something, something throws a brick wall in front of me. Grrr.

I had been waiting for the domain registration transfer for a site I work on. It finally went through last night. It had been more than a week and I was getting worried. I emailed and everyone said it had gone through. Strange, I couldn't see it when I logged in to manage my account. Hrm. Well, it was there last night. Too late to work on anything, but at least it went through I thought.

Now I go to work on things and I notice that my mp3s seem to be hanging. (I'm playing them across our network). Now I know they don't have anything to do with each other but, every time the music hangs I seem to start having problems with the internet connection. See, completely unrelated. Except maybe in some cosmic way. There is that solar storm that hit yesterday. Well, the cable company says it's an unexpected event and to expect loss of connectivity. Gee, thanks.

Subject forgotten

I have forgotten what the subject was going to be for this entry. Hr-mm.

My brother's birthday is tomorrow. He's going to be getting married soon. Yeah for him. I'm not sure if I will see him tomorrow, but I'll try to call him.

I did good and only assisted the kids when asked. I think others felt the pain of what it is really like to deal with them. They may not be my kids, but they still stress me out!

Josh and I want to do something. Sea World was brought up, but I don't really feel like dealing with fishies. I just want to sleep in all day and not care about anything. That would be nice.

These notes are basically my way of keeping myself up. I should probably just bite the bullet and go to sleep.

Calming down

I've calmed down since my last post. Basically I have decided that I will only help when asked. Brittany has already asked me to wake her up earlier in the morning so we can "do something" with her hair. She asked, and I will help. Brittany I know will ask, the other two I am not so sure of.

I think the fact that I have a migraine developing hasn't helped the situation either. It sucks and I'm trying to stop it before it gets too bad.

I'm mean *Warning foul language ahead*

*Warning foul language ahead*
It has come to my attention that I am, mean. Apparently my making the kids do their homework, take a bath, brush their teeth, and having them eat their dinner before they can have dessert while I am watching them, is mean. I give the fuck up. Really, screw helping other people. Where has it gotten me in life? Fuck it all. Damn it, I'm tired of this shit.

Congrats to the Marlins. Josh came in all smiles. Too funny.

Sad

I had heard about Elliot Smith's death earlier this morning, but when it finally hits the AP is when it seems to always sink in. Great talent gone. Kind of the same feeling when I heard about Jeff Buckley. Both really good at what they do.

Anyhow, back to work. Must get more accomplished before the repairman comes.

Massive productivity

Massive productivity couple with not being sleepy has made it a good day. I got a lot of stuff done and am happy about that. But I'm tired now and really want to sleep.

Hindu Cowboys

Note to self. Pick up a copy of a Hindu Cowboys' cd next time I'm out. "Boy George" is a good getcha going song, even Josh likes it.

I need to get one more test tube rack. I am using it as a pen/marker/pencil/etc holder and it works really nicely. If I had one more I could put my scissors and all in that one and no more tin box for me!

Cookies and kisses

The kids gave me birthday cookies since I probably won't seem them tomorrow (today). Josh gave me a kiss at midnight. I already got my present, the camera. It's great. I also received a cool classic pooh watch from Josh's parents. Email to go out in the morning, I hope. (Thanks to you all)

I watched the Yankees/Boston game. I just wanted Boston to win to get it over and stop hearing about that darn curse. Maybe next year. Sure, next year.

I managed to get vnc running again and was goofing off with my brother viewing his computer from here. We were going to play a trick on my sister-in-law and my niece, but we figure we'll wait until the weekend. That way they won't freak out and break something if he's there!

I need to sleep. Skittles will probably write in her journal tomorrow. She met the kids' hamster and must keep a memory of that.

Dad

Today is my dad's birthday. He didn't do anything exciting. I think he is just tired. In two days, mine rolls around.

Nothing exciting occurred other than my 5 year old niece being drugged up massively for a root canal, but still managed to freak out and not get it done. With as much meds as they gave her she should have been out completely, but nope, she was wide awake and aware. So she's not getting it done and my brother is too ticked off to think about it anymore.

I'm ready to sleep.

So tired

I've been away. Lots of cleaning and stuff. Almost finished with the yard. I want to put in some stepping stones but can't figure out where to put them. Oh well, another day. Fun with contact paper tonight.

I was having some computer problems so I haven't done too much on the computer these past few days. After hours of investigation I finally realized it was my mapped drives screwing stuff up for one thing and my hotsync manager loading up at start up screwing up my start up. Yeah for me.

I got my camera for my bday. Josh and I were in Staples and I saw it... and it had a clearance sign and price on it! Well it rang up full price and I fussed. The manager swore it was not on sale, so I mentioned to him to go and look. He muttered under his breath about that camera not being so cheap. Looks like someone screwed up. Good for me though. Josh knows just what to buy me. /wink I should note that when I told Josh the price he said "buy it" :) Hee hee.

Mission: Space

Brittany and I might have to go on the Mission: Space ride after school one day. She'd probably freak (or puke) but no more than I did on Space Mountain... alone. I was apparently too small and light to be sitting on my own because I started floating out of my seat. That was a weird experience.

I think I will be getting a camera for my birthday. A really nice one. :) Five mega pixels!! Oh please oh please oh please!

Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter had a boy. Evil genius or a dashing talent? Hmmmmm.

So session two of the House Cup is coming to a close. All three of the kids are doing really good. Brittany is once again in the lead, but that is due to four days of Shalyn misbehaving regarding bath time. If she had not put up such a fuss, she would be in the lead!

Well, I should get my surfing for the night over since we are going to be getting flubbed up for a few hours. They are doing some work so we may be without connectivity.

Customized

Brittany has a bunch of jeans that were bought on clearance. We're talking lots ($2.50 for a pair that fit and usually costs $30, how could you not buy them). I asked her tonight if I could "customize" them with some ribbons and such that I bought from the scrap bin. I think she wants something embroidered too, but I really don't have that much time. She likes the kind that go lengthwise up the pants. Maybe I should introduce her to fabric paints. I know sometimes jeans can be boring, so I figured we could add some spice. Now she'll be the one rummaging through the scrap bins!

I managed to wack my chin a few days ago and ended up bruising my chin and gums as well as bite my tongue. Now I'm suffering. I had a migraine start yesterday (or the day before, I can't tell) and the pain has aggravated the bruising. I upped some particular vitamins and that seems to have helped with all of the pains.

I transferred some domains over to a new host. I am doing it as a reseller, so I will end up saving a whole lot of money each year. I like my current host, but I think it's time for a change. The new place seems pretty good and the folks seem to know what they are doing. I'm waiting for the dns stuff to finish, then I will be a happy camper for a few days.

I'm not weird, I'm just interested

When I was young, I used to like to read about serial killers and how they were caught and prosecuted. I read a lot about the Green River murders. It's good that they finally have someone linked to the it and are prosecuting.

When I first started college, I apparently scared quite a few people off while reading "Helter Skelter" in the rotunda before class. I found this out later after a few students saw that I was eating with someone (Mark) they knew and came over. Breaking the Baptist misconceptions of the world a little at a time, that's what I did. Anyway, I just thought of that little issue while reading the latest about the Green River Killings.

I am completely lacking the motivation to do anything other than sleep. I won't do that until later though.

notty arnold

That, umm.. sucks. not. Notty Arnold, getting in to bed with Enron. If he doesn't win the election (hoping he doesn't), he'd better stay away from movies for a while.

Only at Lowes

Only at Lowes do I see a Buddhist Monk buying plywood. Actually, you see stranger things around here, but it was just unexpected at that time. Kind of brightened my day. More later hopefully. I'm feeling well enough to arrange my links database. I'm not daring enough to make it aesthetically pleasing though. /fear

As a kid

Last night I started thinking of random things. There's not much else to do when you can't breathe and you're tired. I remembered being a kid and climbing the walls, literally. I used to climb the wall and just sit as high as I could go and do whatever, homework, read, sneak attack. Yeah, that was a long time ago. I wonder if I could get one of the kids to try it. I bet they'd freak out. Darn.

Happy Birthday to Melissa! Hopefully Josh will remember to call you. I have a card sitting on the counter but haven't been able to get it to the post office due to my wretched cold.

My birthday is in two weeks. I should really pimp my wishlist to my husband. hint hint Josh.
