I have been ok off and on today, but now I'm about ready to just crawl under the covers. For the past ten minutes I have been sneezing at least once a minute. My nose is now all stuffed and my eyes are tearing. Beavis, this sucks. Josh has gone to a class. /sigh
We went to see Open Range last night. It was, hmmm, ok. I wasn't thrilled with it, but I wasn't put off by it. It was a little too slow to start. Of course it also ended too quick. The acting was great, except for a few places where Costner seemed to not follow through. I just felt some scenes could have done away with some of the non-essential lines. There were a few that were kind of stale.
During one of my 'I feel fine' sprees, I managed to empty a room and steam clean the carpet. Go me. Two more rooms to go. Josh thinks we should scotch-guard the carpet after we do it. Maybe, I haven't decided.
Alright, time to crawl under a rock, I can't breathe.
Oh yes, I did good today. I discovered a thrift store that sold things... by the pound! What did I manage to find? Well, lots of dress up clothes for the kids, a nice fancy evening gown that is about one size too small for me in the upper region of my body. /sigh I will just pass it on. I got a few coats for the kids to play pretend in. AJ was with me during the discovery, but he is sick (and I've caught it from the kids too), so we didn't stay there too long. I was just impressed that I actually found a non-dated evening gown! I may take a picture of my $1 dress. It's in perfect condition too. Someone will get some use out of it. Maybe Josh's mom can use it for something. Hrmm. I think so.
Alright, gotta go make some mint chutney. /sigh
Last night I went to wash my hands and instead ended up getting sick. Of course the clean up made me want to be sick again. Let's just say I had spinach for dinner. Bleh.
Just finished mowing the front yard and half of the back. I ran out of gas and there isn't enough in the gas can to finish, so I'll do the rest tomorrow. I still feel kind of sick from last night, but not anything too bad.
I need to pick up some speakers for a stereo I bought yesterday. It's a nice Sony one. I ended up getting it for $10. Someone thought it wasn't working, but uh, you kind of need to hook the speakers up correctly. I am thinking of trying a pawn shop or five. I think just basic black would be good. I would prefer something small. We already have a really nice stereo system, but I figured it would be good to have either in another room or even out on the patio. I haven't quite decided where it will go. I'm working on that.
We bought it last night, but managed to beat the huge mob of people by going to a different area to pay. There were actually more people last night than there were when Chamber of Secrets was released. Interesting.
AJ is here and is watching some of it, asking lots of cute questions. I must go answer some.
Yahoo (and everyone else it seems) has finally picked up on the story of Wesley Willis' death (On August 21st). I liked Wesley, but I can't really accurately explain why. He didn't make music in the 'normal' sense, but he made something he loved. Maybe that's why I liked him. Knowing my fair share of schizophrenics may have also helped me understand too. In any case, I was shocked and saddened when I heard last week.
In other news. I received a late night (well late to her) phone call from Brittany. It seems she was having a grammar homework crisis. She had no clue what the questions were asking about. I'm going to get on her case tomorrow if she hasn't brought home her book. She keeps forgetting to bring her books home for the subjects she has homework in. She remembers the workbooks, but not the books. /sigh We've all gotten after her about it since the beginning of last year, but she still "forgets" to bring them. I think tomorrow I'll make her go back if she forgets. It will really get her upset considering The Two Towers comes out tomorrow on DVD and she is dying to watch it.
I feel accomplished today. I put on my brave face and tackled the back porch's nether lands. Things roam around there that shouldn't be thought about, ever. I went in stomping and killed quite a few things I never want to see. A few shrieks and squeaks came from me and a little cursing as well. All in all, I did a fairly good job. Moved the swing out and then put it back, found stuff I never knew was there. Made use of said stuff too.
My dad had jury duty today but managed to get there and get out of it due to health reasons. An actual benefit to having a disease. All he said was that he needed to have certain meals and meds at certain times and they said, "OK, you're excused. We may call you back for jury duty again though." Sure, it'll be the same thing next time though.
I think I injured my shoulder during my cleaning spree. It hurts to move it. The only reason I can type this is because my wrist is really the only thing moving. /sigh
Next stop, post office.
Josh and I drove all over the place and ended up in a town called Frostless or something like that. This house was bigger than some of the towns we went through. We headed home and the skies just started dumping on us. Visibility was pretty close to 0, but we drove on. Mainly because no one else was on the road and we just drove really slow.
More later, I'm kind of hungry.

John B. email me! We saw your dad last summer and he said you were literally moving at the time and he didn't have your new number and stuff. We moved really far from where we were. Email me.
You know, if I was to move somewhere, I'm tempted to think Bermuda would be a nice place to move to. All of the people I have met from Bermuda have been very pleasant and I've met people in different situations. It wasn't like it was a tour bus full of them or anything. I was looking at a map and just thought of that. It's an idea. I'm not sure if Josh would be up for it. All though if I told him he could have a boat, he'd be happy. If it wasn't for the tropical storms that they get so often I'd put it right at the top of my list!
Got some computer/web related things done. Really just database stuff that wasn't too hard. I didn't want to work on anything that I couldn't stop and pick back up later and still remember what I was doing. I finished most of it, so that was good.
Good gravy my wrist is killing me. I think this will be the last for tonight.
For those folks that have chosen to link to the archive images at Skittles' site, you might want to check your links soon. For those who have opted to steal some bandwidth from Skittles, you will want to learn something about direct linking not being kosher on the web. I am changing the archive today. Thank you.

For those with serious Hobbit habits longing to venture into Middle Earth for more than a few hours, New Line plans to screen all three films back-to-back-to-back on December 16 in a daylong marathon that will carry over with The Return of the King's global release on December 17.
Press release here.
Yep, I'll be one of those folks there. Why? Because I am that way and I can sit through ten hours of movies and not get fidgety. Brittany I don't think could take sitting around that long, as much as she says she can.
I'm tired of someone thinking that if they just take "most of the meat off" it will be ok. No it won't. People have tried that and it has resulted in me puking in their restaurant! Josh and I decided to give Quiznos a try. One of the girls there accidentally put turkey on my sandwich and I complained. I told them that I wouldn't accept that sandwich, so they finally got it through their head to just make me another one. Go me. The sandwich wasn't anything exciting, but I ate it. I was hungry.
AJ is spending the night with us while his sisters are at my other brothers'. Apparently auntie O is going to make cake or something for them. I wanna go. Their parents are getting a break.
Anyone ever used the MaxTheater? I'm tempted to buy one just to review it. They are reviewing it tomorrow on TechTV's ScreenSavers, so I'll see what they have to say about it. I just need to remember to watch.
I love my nieces and nephew, I really do. But today I did it. I put up four very large boxes of toys. Now they have one small toy box (my old one), a small crate of toys, and the kitchen set. That is all there is left. Most of the toys in the toy box are kind of big and educational. I didn't do anything with the ones on the back porch and in the lawn toy bin. Baby steps here people, baby steps. The porch is going to get an eventual overhaul with all of the stuff gone. I think it needs a new table and chair set. It would like quite nice.
I've re opened Cafe Nine and Three Quarters (the kids' little restaurant we made in the library). That is where they will eat dinner tonight. I've set up a dinner menu for them and all. Yes, I'm feeling weird today. I think I should have drank more water while doing yard work. All of the limbs and fallen tree branches from the past few days of storms have been cleaned up. The giant tree is beautiful, but it's a pain to keep up.

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday GINA!!! It's tomorrow, but I don't know when I'll be able to get to a computer tomorrow. Technically tomorrow is only fifteen minutes away.
Josh is making fresh salsa. He's bored I think. Bob forbid he go to bed now. I'm actually typing this from his laptop. It's ok, but Konqueror is making my eyes hurt. At least I confirmed for myself that all of the sites I have done still look the same under most browsers (not counting text based browsers thank you).
Felt pretty blah today. Breaking news over Eggos this morning was not what I needed. Just sad stuff.
I think I shall go help Josh with his salsa. It's an experiment, so I have to be the test subject. Too bad we forgot to get some tortilla chips. Oops!
I've decided to make myself a theme package for Aston. There is so little on TV at night anymore that it will give me something to do in the downtime. I've got an idea of what I'd like, but it's not going to be anything too fancy. Something for me to use.
Josh is on the phone with his dad. As soon as I finish mucking around with my email and get it all back, I have to email his mom. Well, never mind, he's on the phone with her now.
My brother was dead tired, so we're going to move stuff later. That was good, Josh and I can now bottle the beer he was brewing. He's got two batches. One he thought was going bad, but then he realized it was the bitter beer. Oops. Good thing we didn't dump it! Time to finish cleaning the bottles!
I swear, I'm going to go crazy one day. So much for the movies. I am sitting here typing this with a really sore throat , a slight fever and this perpetual feeling that I am going to be sick. Grrr. RoadRunner is acting up, so mail is a little evil today as well.
We won the lotto. Uh, well, we won like $9. It was one of those days when I went in to get a newspaper and something to drink and said, "What the heck." Well, maybe next time it will be the jackpot.
I'm tired. I went over to see my brother's new place and help him move a few things in. It's a nice place. He's having a time deciding where to put everything. I hate that feeling.
I think we are going to see that new Kevin Costner movie tomorrow. I should probably go to sleep now then since we are going to go to the 10am showing. I am hoping that everyone else in this city will either be asleep, hungover, or in church and we will have the theater to ourselves.
I am used my soon to expire Continental Airlines Miles to get subscriptions to a few magazines. One of the ones I got was Entertainment Weekly. I find it amusing to find inside, three different pictures of everyone's favorite blonde elf, Orlando Bloom. One picture happens to be an entire page head shot. Go Orlando. (I post this because my dear Eva's sister and friends apparently really like him.) I wonder if Brittany will try to permanently borrow this edition from me.
Weird dreams the past few nights. I rarely have nightmares in the classic sense. The closest thing to a nightmare I've had was one where AJ was kidnapped and I rescued him. Even when supposed bad things are happening in my dreams, they happen in either comedic or understanding way. I really should find my dream book and find out what that's all about.
I should go to sleep. After the movie, we have errands to run and then it's more fun helping my brother move. My mom thinks making him a big cleaning supply gift basket isn't a good idea. Hey, if Martha Stewart can do it, I think I can too! If I'm vetoed by Josh, I guess we'll get him some lamps, he needs those.
My dad has got to be irritate "as all get out" over this blackout. He just left to come home about 40 minutes ago. According to his itinerary, he should be arriving in two minutes. Yeah, he's going to be in a REALLY crappy mood.
In other news, my brother is going to be living two houses away from my other brother. I know the kids are going to be psyched.
There is some talk at LJC about Krispy Kreme and now Krispy Kreme wedding cakes.
I've gotten over the need to have them now that we have a few of the hot n' fresh ones REALLY close. It's just fun to remember being a kid and getting up really early to go and get some. Now when we drive past the large KK bakery downtown, it's a flood of childhood goodness coming back. My brother and I were goofing off around there a couple of months ago with the windows down in the car and it was like hitting a wall of smell, good smell. /sigh yum.
I do recall insisting that Amanda must try some when she went to visit a friend. I'm glad they have some stores where she lives. It's just wrong for people to not know the awesomeness of those darn doughnuts. I've had doughnuts from all over and there's just something special about ones from KK.
Skittles swears we are starving her. She knows she has to wait for AJ to come over and feed her though. She'll be following him around until he finally does.
Well, we went to the beach and returned home. We took my mom out to eat since she wanted to do that this week. Josh and I might take the kids to the beach after school tomorrow. Maybe we'll take them to the surfer hangout. I noticed lately that it appears that the surfer style is in. Go figure. Hey, maybe we'll see a shark or two there.
I have a pair of Strawberry Shortcake sunglasses that I was going to give Shalyn, but I'm kind of digging them myself. They actually fit and I can see out of them without obstruction. I don't think pink goes well with my clothes though. Hrmm, oh well.
Hello, this is my One Thousandth post. I sure do write a lot more now that I don't have to do it all by hand. I only wish I could find my old old old journal entries (those prior to 1997). I moved my site and started fresh never uploaded them to the new site. Then of course Bessie (my old faithful computer) died of hard drive failure and all of the old entries were lost. /sniff sniff
My dad has landed in his destination city and Josh and I are about to pop off to Melbourne for a tad and stick our feet in the ocean for a few minutes and return home hopefully before rush hour starts.
I was sad to hear that Gregory Hines had died. I liked him. He could be serious or fun and it worked.
This entry is number 999. One more to a thousand.
Dad leaves for a trade show tomorrow morning. Josh and I are going to take him to the airport at 4:45am. We have to pick Brittany up from school in the afternoon. Must remember these things.
I'm short. I try to deny it, but I am. I am not however, the shortest in the family. My mother and Tonya are shorter. What brought about this lovely bought of height worry? I purchased some capris today, for doing yard and household stuff. Well, I didn't try them on because I didn't care how they really looked. I just need something other than my cut up jeans that look like I'm going to bash someone's head in. So I bought them and just tried them on. They are freaking pants! They reach down to my ankles and look like pants but they have that capri wideness to them. Ugh. I will still wear them because they are really comfy but they sure did make me feel short.
I haven't heard from Brittany yet. She should be getting home from her first day of school soon. I hope she calls me. Tomorrow is Shalyn's. I'll be waiting by the phone to hear! Awww, the cuteness, the fear, the poor girl.
So there is a warning about common items hiding weapons. Well duh. Of the 89 page document, I own well over 20 of the items listed. One of my favorites being on page five, the Swiss-Tech key. It's not made to necessarily be hidden, it's convenience. It has screwdrivers, knife, can opener etc. But it fits on your keyring and that makes it a nice thing. Now there are some other things listed that NO ONE in their right mind would think were trying to be concealed (Page 13 which I've owned at least one since middle school). It was interesting to see the kubaton (page 15) in there. Very few know what it is. I managed to carry that one around school and never get in trouble for it. It's not like I ever used it but considering I was waiting for the bus in the dark, it was nice to have.
My parents made it back safely and were tired. My brother, sister-in-law, and the kids came over to see them. Brittany starts school tomorrow and Shalyn begins on Friday. Poor AJ will be all alone and must play with cars and tools all day long! Poor guy.

No longer can I torment K and the rest of the family with the fact that there is a Krispy Kreme so close. There are 25 being built in the UK and Ireland.
I hate a particular type of tourist... The world wouldn't really notice if all of them just kind of poofed away.
I'm tired and really need to write some emails. I am fighting to write this. My mom and dad stopped for the night about two hours from my grandparents' place. That will be good for them.
Josh is in the other room watching Traffic. I don't want to get started watching it because I plan on going to bed in a bit. I've seen it enough considering I'm the one that bought it!
You know, I wonder if my brother and his family are getting a tax check thingy. I don't know what they make. Hmm. That would be one hell of a surprise for them as I'm not sure they know it may be coming. Heck I didn't even know it was happening. Then again I don't have any children.
So uh, all heck seems to break loose if your date is set to August 02, 2101. Cookies went nuts, programs went wacky and everything. I don't know what in the world changed the date, but I think I will start keeping an eye on it more often!
I doubt I'll have a chance to write much this week. My parents are leaving to see my grandparents and I am taking over one of their shops while they are away. They'll be back midweek, so it's not for too long. Also adding to this is the fact that I spilled soda on this keyboard so it's harder to use than before.
I'm sitting here with a big ole' smile on my face. I've finally gotten the chance to sit down and watch the Return of the King trailer. It's going to be a good movie, like the last two.
Today is the kindergarten picnic! All of the incoming kindergarten students (Shalyn) and their families are supposed to come and meet their teacher etc. I'm going to keep Brittany and AJ so Shalyn can not be distracted. She tends to do get distracted really easily.
Yesterday Josh and I went to Melbourne. On the way we passed The Serpentarium but Josh refused to let me go. Aquariums are cool and you get to go to them on field trips, but really, how often do you get to go to The Serpentarium? I keep joking that we should take the kids there and tell them we're really a Slytherin family and we are testing them for Parseltongue. Brittany would be devastated that we'd think of it. One day we'll go, one day.
