August 31, 2002
Ahh, September marks the start of birthday season for my circle of family and friends. August is slightly busy, but every month between September and December holds quiet a few birthdays each. Most of the presents are picked out, either physically or mentally. Let's not forget to add the Christmas/Yule shopping to be done!
In other news, In the pile of stuff I brought home, found a picture of my parents wedding. The phrase, "I [heart] Menudo" was written on the glass. I wonder who could have written that! (Staring towards my relative one state south of me!) I just thought that was funny. My parents still have a couple of my brother's old Menudo albums. Luckily that phase didn't last too long.
Also discovered in that pile were photos that I had not intended to bring back with me. I will have them sent back.
IcyHot smells like the inside of a toothpaste tube, but it seems to work. If I hadn't been in such immediate need of it, I probably would have worked something up o'natural.
In order for Josh to avoid any lag on EQ and whatever he's doing on his other machines, I have to limit my bandwidth use to 800k/s. It feels so slow. Wah.
:biggrin
Punk Kitties *Warning.. flash site
Thanks to ex0teric.
I've finished moving everything over to MT and I think I've got it working well. There were almost 700 entries to make sure went through correctly, so I've been busy all day.
I made the homepage and the journal page mirror each other until I can figure out just what I want to do with the homepage.
That image above is from a picture that Josh took in Sydney in 1992 or 1993. It's actually a reflection of the city and bridge lights on the water. It's one of my favorite pictures.
Skittles is doing ok. She's running around again and has stopped limping, so I feel better. She was milking us earlier. I would see how she was walking and would hold a handful of food and have her follow me. Quite eager to show me her limp (or lack of). Maybe she'll calm down some now. Who knows.
I have an idea for a new layout, but it will take a while to do. I'll save it for another season.
Well, Skittles decided to get her foot caught in an open drawer and fell and hung from it for a few seconds. Boy did she scream! She is limping slightly. Josh and I are going to give her until feeding time (another 2 hours) and if she isn't better, we'll take her to the vet. She's due for a teeth cleaning anyway, so no matter, she'll be going soon. I'll update as I know... :sad
My neck is killing me. I've got to take something for it...
I had a dream last night that I heard on the news that Jack Klugman had died. Yeah, I have no idea where that one came from.
Well, I've moved over to movabletype. I'm amazed it went quickly. I will finish a layout and then move everything over. Yipee! :smile
Shalyn, look what I got you!!!
Their youth size 1 DMs! I won my auction. They're new. Hee Hee. Brittany, I'm trying for yours!
... Asterix... Yes, spread the love of Asterix, my childhood favorite cartoonage!
My dad is the GREATEST!!! Narsil is on the way!

Thank you dad!
Excuse me? You've got to be kidding me. I can't even say what I want to right now. /sigh First we skip the Johannesburg Summit, now lets piss off everyone by saying "We can attack iraq if we want to and we don't need your permission." My head hurts, I feel like crawling into a cave and living there from now on.
My head is hurting. I think it's due to my lack of... well, anything besides water. I tried to tempt Josh to go to the store by telling him he could get some ice cream. That didn't work. So, it's ten minutes to nine and I just got off the phone with the pizza place. 35 to 40 minutes. Something tells me that they don't realize we are literally a three minute drive down the road. Shoot, Dominoes is a minute (they could save money and walk it here). In any case I am fine with the wait. I am hungry, but I will survive since it means I don't have to cook. I might make something evil with my head hurting this bad.
I finally decided on a layout for Brittany. Just a few minor changes of information and it will be done. It looks the same in IE5.5, NS6.2, and Mozilla 1.0! It does have tables so it's not completely in css. Oh well. Get over it. Until all browsers are on the same rope with css, it's going to look crappy in one vs. looking great in another!
So my next goal in these few weeks I have before I leave again for a few weeks is to get the entry editing screen super simple. Although my niece is super smart, I'd like to slowly get her used to it. She's got school, social life, and sleep already taking up a lot of her time, I'd like to make this easy on her.
Gnome tossing... errr darts...
Very cute. WeatherPixies!
I so need help. Whilst looking for inspiration for something, I ended up on the website of James and Oliver Phelps. Known to Harry Potter fans as, the "Weasley Twins" . In their links section, I came across CowFighter.com ... Needless to say, I've been practicing my bovine fighting skills. I still need some work. I ended up finding their site via Sean Biggerstaff's website. Yes, I'm quite bored. It's interesting to see their sites. Maybe I'll be inspired to see how actors and actresses' websites are changing as of lately. I've noticed quite a few more "celebrity" diaries showing up.
/sigh
Yeah, Legolas' archery skills are probably my favorite parts. To be an elf. Just kidding.
So I picked up some Ruff N' Ready Shrinkable Plastic aka the Shrinky Dink you can draw on! I want to start making some so bad, but we have the windows open. I don't want to get the house all heated up for just this. I'll wait until tomorrow when I know we'll have the windows down and the A/C on.
I bought the stuff because I plan to use it to make labels for my new spice rack. Yippee!
Bought a load of stuff for the sewing machine as well. I think tomorrow I will make a fabric "headboard". Basically it's going to be a curtain over the back of the bed. I've already hung the wall lights I picked up yesterday and they look quite nice. The shades need some cleaning, but that's for another day. I may just pick some new ones at the store. I can get the size I need for pretty cheap.
Ok, I'm off to do some sewing. Fun for me!

I bought a really old Singer No. 66 from a friend of Josh's aunt! It's in great condition and still works! I'm so excited. I'm even more excited in the fact that it was inexpensive and it's one of the old ones that folds into itself! That way if I want to use the electric one on top, I can! Joy! Josh was even excited about it. I'll be having some fun later. I could get away with sewing late at night and no one will hear me. Yippeeee!
Hong Kong Phoooooooooooooey. I can't wait to see how they pull this one off. Live Action/Computer Animated in the same form as Scooby-Doo. Why do they keep doing these things to my childhood memories?
Damn those Peanut Patch cajun peanuts. Their site uses frames, otherwise I'd link right to the peanuts!
I was bad today. Josh didn't help either. He agreed to it! He let me buy something today. While waiting for our film to be developed at the one hour photo place we shopped around for some stuff we needed. I being the gal that I am went to the electronics department. (Ok, so Josh was going that way too). I walked into the little gadget area and what do I find? Aiptek Pen Cams! Well long story short, the $100+ camera I've beein pining over was marked for $40. It made Josh and I wonder, but looking into it, yep, it's the same one. Hee hee. Score! ;)
Gotta scan some photos in that I took at Six Flags America. It was an interesting day at the park. I got ill and puked in a public restroom. Thankfully the girl had literally just cleaned it. I hovered over the bowl rather than stick my head in, as I've seen other do. Nasty.
I collect things. I mainly collect:
The Nightmare Before Christmas books, toys, and goodies (I've got a HUGE collection)
Lord of the Rings books, toys, etc
Old Tin Toys
Material (I'm a sucker for nice material)
Computer/Electronic gadgets (my worst hobby, because it's expensive)
Sharp objects (swords, daggers, etc...)
If we move, I get a room for all of my goodies. At least that is my plan. If we move down south, houses are cheaper, I'll get more room for my stuff!!!
Woke up off and on all morning today. The power went out at 7:30 this morning. I feel sorry for the folks that were late for work. I was awake for that. Last night I had pains in the side of my stomach. Nothing like an appendicitis. It was just enough for me to note it was there. Strange. There's still some lingering, but it's not anything I've eaten, it's... I don't know, but it's weird.
I did a test install of MovableType on my test site and it was pretty easy to install. I think that it took about 20 minutes total to get it running and updating. Now the hard part it making templates. I want to make one for Brittany, but having to decide between ideas is difficult. I'm also deciding whether or not she should have categories or not. It would be good for her to look back on, but I don't know.
Ok, gotta go check out and see what's up with the rest of the folks...
My new word(s) lately have been piggy, piggying, and piggied. What they have meant when I used them is; to make money or use to make money. Weird, but I have found myself using that a bit lately. Weird.
I may be moving over to movable type soon. One of the main reasons is because... I have promised little miss Brittany a journaling space! Yes, soon you may be seeing the thoughts and ramblings of my eight year old niece! I thought it would be best to keep them together so I can change it easily if needed. We have brainstormed some ideas for a look, but I have to get it all too work. I think I'll make it something simple that I can change with just a swap of images, rather than a complete redesign. I may do a redesign with my site as well. I don't know just yet.
Well, grocery shopping awaits us. Off I go.
I have returned home, again. I'll be home for a few weeks until I leave again. I didn't check my email the entire time I was away. Too much was going on for that. I just finished cleaning up a ton of spam. I'm giving mailwasher a real test with my travels! It seems to be working nicely though.
I'm going to go finish dealing with the legit emails and then I'll go to sleep. I miss sleep.
I need to buy myself some shrinky dink plastic. I need to use them for spice bottle labels.
I am going to Gina's tomorrow. All will be well. More when I return. Now I need to sleep.
Oh yeah... I like MailWasher. When I return, I plan to send him some $$. It's just nice to have something that works well.
I'm home, but I'm sick and it sucks. I should be well enough to go with my aunt to see my grandparents and family. Just wanted to let everyone know, incase anyone was concerned! Time for bed!
