I saw something today, a few hours ago actually.
I went to wake my husband up (he fell asleep in the living room) and I teased him about falling asleep there. He started to wake a little and I saw it. It is something I haven't seen in so long. There was true happy smile on my husband's face! Sure he's smiled on other occasions, but this time his smile had no worries behind it. The closest thing to a worry he has is when his main EQ character will hit level 60. That's not even a real worry!
He didn't wake up though and I ended up falling asleep on the floor. My strange obsession with making pillows a few weeks ago ended up with us having a living room floor full of pillows! Skittles seems to like it though.
I downloaded and installed Mail Washer. I am trying to cut down on the spam that I get due to Skittles Cam. So far it seems to be working nicely. I'm going to give it about two weeks and see how it does. If it works well, I'll be passing some $$ on to Nick, it's creator. I can't judge it well enough just yet because for some reason there seems to be less spam on sunday.
Sadly, I have an all day commitment on the same day as the Blogathon, otherwise I would be helping Skittles "blog" her little heart out all day long. But, I'll at least try and drum up some last minute support for others.

As much as I do love Germany, I must give a big congrats to Brazil on their win. Sorry if I spoiled it for anyone... but if you were that interested... YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN UP watching it!!

ahhhh. Rosemary Clooney has passed! /sigh
I walked up to the grocery store and thought I was going to die. No, it wasn't the heat, my sinuses were tolerable, but my eyes were killing me. They were itching and burning so bad. The pollen count is supposedly low, but boy was I hurting. I got home and I hurried to put stuff away and get some drops in my eyes. They feel better, but still hurt a little.
On the strange and mysterious side. Skittles is now opening the upper cabinet doors by the handles. Yes, my cat is officially weird. It was bad enough that she was opening them, but now she is using the handles. When she starts walking mainly on her hind legs, I'm having her commited.
A sign it's time to cut your hair...
When all of the sudden you feel something on the back of your knees, fearing it is some insect that has managed to find its way into your home and climb up your leg... only to discover it's your hair.
/sigh I think I may cut it when we go on vacation. I haven't decided.
Sorry mom. Sorry I haven't called lately. I never know where you are out and about to anymore, so that's why I haven't called. And my allergies have been throwing my sleep hours off. We will be visiting in a week or so, I think. Don't worry!
Happy Birthday Pamela.. (I barely made it, it's been one of those days)
One of my most favorite songs since I was about 5.
What Is A Youth?
What is a youth? Impetuous fire.
What is a maid? Ice and desire.
The world wags on.
A rose will bloom
It then will fade
So does a youth.
So do-o-o-oes the fairest maid.
Comes a time when one sweet smile
Has its season for a while...Then love's in love with me.
Some they think only to marry, Others will tease and tarry,
Mine is the very best parry. Cupid he rules us all.
Caper the cape, but sing me the song,
Death will come soon to hush us along.
Sweeter than honey and bitter as gall.
Love is a task and it never will pall.
Sweeter than honey...and bitter as gall
Cupid he rules us all
hmmm. It's an interesting read, given all of the debate lately...
Oh yeah... UGH... He needs to hire real comedians to write his jokes.
I think Katie could kick her ass. also.. eek!
And for some humour, I submit this. Enjoy.
We got the Thule goodies with the short but tall exursion box. It looks cute, but strange on the Golf, but hey, it is what we need, so who cares.
I'd go take a picture of it, or even write more, but there is a pink/purple blob coming towards us and I need to unplug lots of electronics and stuff.
I will say.. that we were getting the Thule installed when over the radio we heard John Entwistle of The Who died. Heart attack. Oi vey!
servers upgraded with lots of mods to play with. Fun, fun, fun!
Moja died June 6th. Sadly, this is the first I am hearing about it, some three weeks later. /sigh
He's back baby! The Sock Puppet, formerly of Pets.com fame is coming back to work with 1-800-BAR NONE.
“... 'I was down and out for a while. I sure know what its like to have less than perfect credit. Fortunately, 1-800 BAR NONE rescued me and gave me a second chance. Now, I’m the National Spokespuppet for 1-800 BAR NONE!', exclaimed the 1-800 BAR NONE Sock Puppet."
"We think the Sock Puppet is a perfect fit for 1-800 BAR NONE. The concept of the 1-800 BAR NONE Sock Puppet getting a second chance in his career ties beautifully to how 1-800 BAR NONE is able to help the consumer in a similar situation,” said Jim Crouse, President and CEO of 1-800 BAR NONE. And now, like the 1-800 BAR NONE Sock Puppet says, "Everyone deserves a second chance.”
I hope they are keeping the writer and voice of the sock puppet. So cute. I have all of the commercials saved on the server here. They are always good for a quick laugh.

We saw a Mini Cooper S on the VW lot today. Tempting, so tempting. Josh even liked it. If it wasn't for the fact that it cost as much as the Golf, it would be very very tempting.
Lately i've seen that VW Cabriolet commercial a lot lately. You know, the one with the four people going to a party driving at night with the trees, stars, and such, then when they arrive at the party they decide that they like driving around better. Well, every time I see it, I think to myself, "Ahh, yes, I know that feeling. It's a good feeling." It's just nice and peaceful, especially in late August, early September. /sigh
Ok, back to work. I napped for a couple hours and will go back to bed in a bit as well. I just have some things to do.
We're home. Lots of stuff done today.
Five things off of my list, well 4.75 things. Went to two of our banks and handled that stuff. We also went to lunch at the indian/pakistani restaurant and had their lunch buffet. We will go there for dinner another day, so I will try their cauliflower then. I did have their lentil soup. I would say it is in first place, dethroning the little Greek place in NY that I do so love.
Also, Josh got a haircut, finally. It was looking shaggy... bad shaggy. I also went to Pier1. Normally I don't go there, but they were having a 40% off sale and I figured I would scope out the prices of a few things. I ended up with the birthday present for Josh's mom and an oriental style box. I bought it to use as a storage box for photos. I am tempted to go and get a couple more. They are quite large, very thick, and sturdy.
I also priced out some bottles. I want to start my herb collection over again. I used to have lots of them, but over time they've dwindled. I found some very nice bottle sets for an extremely reasonable price... and that's their normal price. My only other idea was that I buy some containers (test tubes or vials) from America Science and Surplus. We really don't want to do that, because I'll start buying all sorts of junk that I don't need!
I didn't get much sleep last night, two hours total to be exact, so I may take a nap. Perhaps tomorrow we will run the speaker wires. Perhaps.
I really should think about sleeping, even if it's just for a little. My sinuses have been wonky, but not too bad. I can't sleep. It's not insomnia, it is me thinking too much. I keep getting all of these little ideas and whatnot... which means I have to do something about them. Yeah, I know, I really should get to bed.
I have been doing a lot of research lately. Does anyone know about Card Service International's online CC (E-commerce) interfacing? It's been difficult to find the real info that I need and it's holding down some work that I have been trying to do. Looks like I just need to sit down and really talk to a local rep or something. Hopefully they aren't as evil as the Sprint Corporate reps I met once. They were really annoying. I have to get this stuff figured out, somehow.
Skittles is worried and really tired because I haven't gone to sleep yet. She's camped out in a cardboard box that I have sitting on it's side. I haven't the heart to use the box since she seems to like sitting in it so much.
Josh and I are going to go give the new Pakistani/Indian Restaurant (yes, that's what it is labeled as.. the two, together!) for lunch. I believe they are open. I have to see how their cauliflower and potatoes (also sometimes refered to as Aloo Gobi) ranks with all the types I've tasted. My dad's is by far the best, but maybe I'm just partial to it because it's my dad's cooking. Nah, Josh likes my dad's cooking better than the restaurants. I think I might have made Josh happy at the idea that the new Middle Eastern/Mediteranean store might sell veggie samosas ready for the microwave! I think Josh, my dad, and I will have to make a stop at the Indian store near my parents. They happen to make some samosas that I know Josh likes.
Me want this and this and this and this and this and this!
If I had the right body for it, I'd want this, this, and this as well.
I went to try and find out how to spell something and came across this site. Some of those bridal gowns made me want to have a wedding... so I would have some place to wear something like that. Such gorgeous fabrics, cuts, and work... /sigh
hee hee. I was looking for a physical address (I'm organizing the addresses on my Clie) for Books24x7 since Josh still has friends there, and I looked at the page for the management team... scroll down to the last member.. hee hee. Very cute. I never noticed it before.
Give me a break. This is just crazy. I mean come on, it was the plot for the Lone Gunmen's Pilot Episode
"The 12D plan is for a small group of government operatives to crash a jetliner into New York City in order to keep tensions high and increase arms sales."
...
"They realize that the airplane will be remote controlled, just like Bert's car was. Talking by phone to the Gunmen's office, Byers asks Langly and Frohike to hack into the aircraft controls. They do and discover that the plane is programmed to crash into the World Trade Center."
I think this is the second or third time I've mentioned this episode here, but come on.
Oh yeah, Josh mentioned this earlier. Ann Landers has passed. That's just... weird. She's been around all of my life. When I was done with the comics, I'd see what kind of wacky stuff was in the advice columns, now she's gone. Add to that the complete weirdness of the death of the Cardinals pitcher Darryl Kile.
Well, I'm off to edit all of the addresses on my PDA. They need updating. Since I can't get anything done with the Empire site due to the cable company's problems, I shall do this. I can get to a few sites, but very few of them. Even this site is iffy. Go figure.
347,597 points... you evil, evil game you.
Just wanted to say h to the folks at Grappone. Hee hee, I know everything, including some of you on a first name basis!
Roar!! It seems that the good old Thules in the attic have parts we can use. The load bars are the correct length, so we can use them again. Yippee. I was pricing out a system for our car with a small box and total it would be $494 at their website. But since we've got the bars, drop that down to $450. It's not a big drop, but a drop is a drop! What does all of this mean? Josh will be able to take his airplane stuff and we can still take our clothes and stuff, the cat, and possible take my niece(s) somewhere if we go visit! Excitement. Should we ever start to ski, we have plenty of ski attachments for the Thule. Roar!
Went to bed really, really late (sun was up and bright), but got a ton done. None of the data entering is done, but I have been editing code, documenting my changes and testing to make sure my changes work.
I think Josh is still up for a movie today. He hasn't said the ever classic, "I don't really feel like it" line yet or anything.
Future Johnny Five? (No disassemble)
I made a slight mention to Josh that maybe we can go to the movies tomorrow during the day and he seemed ok with it! So, I've made a list of the movies I want to see.
Movies to see, in no particular order:
The Bourne Identity, Windtalkers, The Sum of All Fears, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Spider-Man.
I installed the latest version of phpMyAdmin on one of the sites I work on and upgraded the other. It went quite smoothly. Now I have to transition the data from a test server to the actual site and hope it all still goes smooth.
Found this out last night but forgot about it until I just now quoted Jay (of Jay and Silent Bob).. Kevin Smith and gang launched the pop-culture hit... moviepoopshoot.com Oh yeah. Hee hee.
A very interesting article about Wal-mart. Quite an interesting read. Try and do it all in one sitting, otherwise print it out and read it when you get a chance.
(Link via my mother-in-law. Sorry she doesn't have a website, yet!)
Tupperware, I thought you were strong, but you lack strength. You lack the strength to fend off the odors of a spiced chicken. Stinky, stinky, spiced chicken.
Yes, my fridge smells like spiced chicken. Every time I open the fridge or freezer, you can smell it. So much for tupperware. Sheesh. Glad I decided to invest more with Gladware than I did with Tupperware.
Couldn't sleep much last night. Actually I fell asleep just about two hours ago. I shouldn't have taken that nap around 5pm last night. My schedule is so off.
N was reading back through the Skittles Cam and having a blast. Skittles has her moments where she just talks and talks and talks. Sometimes she is worse than me.
Still not able to talk about the big news. Soon though, soon. Awaiting final confirmation which should arrive in the next hour or two. It's something that's been in planning for a while. Nervousness mixed with excitement. Geesh, I haven't felt this awkward in a long while.
Josh is better. He's tired, but he's better. /sigh ... I love my husband.
good or evil, the things you do come back to you, times three... just thought everyone should remember.....
Josh is home sick. Help me. Men. /sigh
We went to the store yesterday and bought lots of groceries. I've been doing good and averaging less than 1 glass of soda (with ice) a day. Not bad. I've been eating more fruits lately. I bought a bag of grapes. Apparently I bought a bag of big and hard grapes (fifth frade humor?). These things are huge. most of them are bigger than those salad tomatoes you get. One was over an inch wide, not around, WIDE...
Cleaned most of the rooms and rearranged some furniture. The bedroom looks quite empty even though it has more furniture than it did previously. Just a few quick changes and it looks practically empty. I did realize that I need a staple gun, a good staple gun. I like staple guns.
The bank says that we don't have an online account. I'm really hoping that it's just a Sunday evening flub and that all will be better when I wake up tomorrow. I can't stand going into the bank, but will go if I must. I need to take some money from e*trade and put it in one of our local savings accounts. I didn't like realizing that our E*Trade account is not FDIC insured.
My dad got his father's day gift, as did Josh's father. We got them both something they could use, although not the same thing. We're good like that.
I don't go to TDI GTG anymore. I don't go because I've gotten tired of the bashing that goes on between by and between folks. I'll give it another couple of month or so and then maybe I'll start visiting the site again for non technical related stuff. Maybe then the ranks will have been thinned a little, but I doubt it. /sigh
Nothing like getting SPAM on your cell phone.. ugh.
Josh is home and not going back until Monday since he worked until 9am this morning... the poor guy needs a little rest you know. Skittles is thrown totally off by this sleeping schedule and is attemptingd to nap on Josh's monitor (she can't sleep on my new monitor.. muh-ha-ha). I made her get up six hours earlier than her normal time.
This is sooo bad... just so, so bad. Josh and I couldn't stop laughing. (link via Priya.)
Josh is home, but he has to go back later tonight. /sigh
Whoa.. weird Carvel commercial with Fudgie the whale.. eek

Tired, tired, tired. Busy, rainy, and cold here. Our anniversary went well. Both very tired. Saw The Divine Secrets of The Ya Ya Sisterhood with the girls.... it was well acted, but I think it could have been better. It wasn't bad, but don't go on a tuesday, whatever you do. Senior citizens out the wazoo. Went to the mall with the girls tonight. From now on they will be referred to as the La-La's for sheer silliness' sake. (We used to enjoy a pastry shop downtown named La-La's... very yummy goodies.)
Whilst at the mall, I yet again discovered how much Verizon Wireless and their customer service/customer relations SUCK. I was actually thinking of switching to them, but I think I'll just keep with AT&T Wireless. I've yet to have a real problem with them.
Ok, off to sleep for me.. LA-LA!
Oh.. and to my niece Shalyn... guess what I got!?!...

Even at age 55, David Bowie still looks and sounds great.
Happy Anniversary to us...
In about 17 hours, I will have been legally married for three whole years! Technically the whole day is ours, but hey, you know. My mom asked if we were doing anything special. Not unless my husband has anything planned. I was thinking of making a cake, but that is because I've been lacking sugar today and figure cake would be yummy.
Today is a brand new day. John Gotti has passed away and Salona's had veggie soup, lentil soup, and the fabulous mac & cheese all in the same day.
I can't find any stories on Gotti's passing just yet... But I will keep looking.
*update, posted a link.
People need to stop sending my cat email adverts on how to make her breast size larger. Really, she's only interested in three things; food, more food, and sleep.
Doing something like this is very tempting. Link found via Not Martha.
Ohh, I want a dog, just so it can wear "Doggles".
For those non-metafilter folks out there... The Way of The Stick. *Caution, Flash stick man fighting game.
I saved the game locally on my machine and also on the server here in the house. I shall become a stickman master!
Ack, the ninnies! I think there are only two people bagging groceries at the grocery store a couple blocks that aren't ninnies. Raji and the really old guy that I worry has had a heart attack (since I haven't seen him in a while). All of the rest are ninnies. Who in the hell puts detergent in with a package of chicken? Boxed items with bread? Eggs on the bottom and cans on top of the eggs? The manager was right there and with a look of disgust, I took the detergent out and put it in with the trash bags. Then I walked outside and promptly started rebagging them. The other grocery store has self serve lanes, but since they are remodeling, I can't find anything that I get (apparently they thought it better during the remodeling to make the wine aisle three times larger than it was, thus cutting back on space for everything else. Argh).
I did my good deed for the day and told someone directions on where to go to do some laundry. There is one place two blocks away, but their big washers and dryers suck. There is one a little farther (five blocks away) with really good washers and dryers and it's not busy during the day. I used to stop at the convience store next to it and get a soda on my way home from the station.
My head is throbbing right now. I think it's because I accidentally blinded myself with the reflection off of my clie. I was reading the news as I walked to the store and bam, sunlight right in my eye. Now that part of my eye and a little further back hurts bad. /sigh
Alright, why didn't anyone tell me that they made "Atomic Fireball Lollipops" ?????? That would just solve every problem I've EVER had with them. (Needing to take it out of my mouth to talk and getting my hands all pink/red in the process.)
I've got to start going down the candy aisles more often.
Did everyone else have the candy cigs as a kid? I may also have to purchase some of the "Hard to find" candy bars for assorted relatives. You can't find Clark bars nor Oh Henry!'s around here. Those were my grandmother's favorite back in her days.
Skittles has made the pillows hers for lounging on... You'd swear she thought she was a princess or something.

Andrea Bocelli will be on "Live with Regis and Kelly" (is that what it's called?). I was flipping channels and just happened across seeing Gilman their producer doing some yoga... and then when they were cutting to commercial, they showed their upcoming guest for Monday! Motivation for me!
It's official, Skittles is pissed off. The table makes it impossible to shake or hack it. I've finally won, finally! She's sleeping on top of the kitchen cabinets in protest.
I still need to post all of the links I've been collecting, but I'm tired. I got less than four house of sleep!
Yeah, Pamela is alive!
Well, I think I've made Skittles angry. I created a lovely little table that covers her feeder so that she can no longer press the button, nor shake food out of it. She is watching me right now, somewhat ticked that every time she jumps on to it, it doesn't move. I also made a little cozy for it. Yep, I broke out the needle and thread and went crazy. It is just a covering to protect folks from the hard corners. The table can hold 80lb max, so I think I am in the clear. I pounded the thing to see if I could shake it and all was well.
My other home improvement task for the day was to fix the light fixture in the hallway. All done. Yippee! I think I may do some sanding and painting in the hallway tomorrow. That all depends on whether I get to sleep at a decent time.
My next project that I want to do is put in some Pergo floors. I've wanted to put them in since we bought this place, but Josh likes carpet. I think this place would look GREAT with "wood" floors and some throw rugs here and there. It's too bad there is subflooring over the really old wood flooring. That could have been fun. I think Josh is opening up to the idea, but not TOO quickly. He at least let me mention it. One of our relatives is putting some in, so hopefully that will help.
Last December I got some lovely ribbons in satin, velvet and assorted other materials that were on sale (85% off) and kept them "just in case." Well, I have been using them lately. Last week I adhered the red velvet and gold ones to an old bookcase's trim. Monday I started using the red/burnt-orange/goldish one as a stripe down a light green fabric for pillows. So far I've cut out the fabric for two pillows. I'll either take a picture or scan them in eventually. I want to scan in bits of the ribbons because they are so beautiful. I managed to find a big spool of purple velvet with gold trim. Needless to say that one will be saved for something VERY special.
I'm starting to babble, so maybe it's time for sleep. I actually have some links I wish to post, but I'm tired.
Josh is home today. He wasn't feeling so hot, so he decided it was best to stay home. Maybe he had that bug I had earlier. In that case, it was a really good idea that he opted to stay home.
I woke up around 5am to pounding rain. The window next to Josh's computer was open, so of course it started to come in and that was not good. I got all of the windows closed before anything bad happened to anything.
SouthPark character creator found Via Calhoun's friend SpinMistress.

My hair is a little longer but it's close.
It's ever so tempting...
Ok, I've found a suitable substitute for the digital camera. Wendy Froud's Myssla. Oh shoot, any of Wendy's pieces would be great. (BTW, these are all just hints for my husband or some really rich person who has money to give to strangers)
Thank You! Josh is probably saying it too, but only for the fact that he doesn't have to hear me go on about it. I don't think I could have said it better myself (Of course Dan is rather well spoken in any case).
In other news, folks, it's JUNE. When did this happen? I still have some of my calendars on April. I guess that tells me I don't need as many calendars as I have huh?
I got rebates from Linksys from when we bought the wireless networking stuff. Even though it was only supposed to be one per household, I went ahead and sent in three. I got back all three. Twenty whole dollars.
Skittles has been a little demon today. I quoted Ralph Kramden quite a few times this morning.
I bought Sexy Beast on dvd last night. I would have bought Blue Velvet too, but I only had $10 in cash with me and Sexy Beast was $9.99 (no sales tax here). /sigh My anniversary is coming up in a little over a week, maybe my husband will get it for me. I mean, chances are highly UNLIKELY that I'll get the 5 MegaPixel Digital Camera from Sony that I want. /sigh Well, a couple of 128mb memory sticks would do too.
Umm, Hooker Furbies... umm, yeah. Uhhh, umm.
Grrr, ya!
You know, it's best not to call me at 9:20 in the morning telling me that I've been previously approved for a Discover card and when I politely tell you I am not interested, raise your voice to me.
/grows taller - Do not raise your voice at me. Do not piss me off. There are things that I will not tolerate and raising your voice is one of them, especially when it is some assanine person trying to sell me something. /returns to normal size

Yeah.. umm.. yeah???
