You’ve got to be kidding me

Friday, March 31st, 2006

I have just discovered that there is a yarn store in my sister in law’s little town. It is actually 2.4 miles down the road from her, on the same road. /sigh

The closest damn thing to a yarn store in this town is Jo-Ann’s and Michaels. If I want to drive an hour and a half through some horrible traffic, I can go to one of the only two stores in a two hour radius. Even then, they are high priced and well, hoity-toity. I seriously wonder if opening a yarn store around here would be a profitable business. I think it would probably drive me crazy in the end, but it is still frustrating that there is nothing here.

Knit backwards

Knit backwards. I have some other backwards knitting links bookmarked, but I will have to post those later. I’m really behind on my homework and studying.

Who knew

Dooooood. Who knew mosaic knitting was so easy. OK, I’m kidding. Actually the tutorial was pretty simple and that bowl is effing tiny. I didn’t even finish it because honestly, the last thing I need is another “container” that small around here. I say this as I am staring at no less than ten containers sitting on my desk. I have a problem, I admit it!

I’ve been eyeing patterns at Jimmy Beans Wool for a long time. I love the wrap pattern Zia by French Girl. I’m sure Oceane or Daphne are probably more practical in this climate though. /sigh

I’m still thinking of making some of the knitted flowers from Pick Up Sticks. How cool is it that they have little kits and the images are of little seed packets.

Geez, Josh is going to start rolling his eyes if he sees me putting knitted flowers around the house.

Could it be

Oh my goodness… I am posting.

Even crazier news folks, I might actually get to do something crafty! I had been pondering the idea of making Il Cestino, but haven’t had the time. Now I see, the designer of many-a-mosaic patterns, Wendy Wannacott has posted a tutorial(.pdf) on mosaic (or slip-stitch) knitting. Soon to come is a tutorial for knitting them in the round. The little bowl is so damn cute. I don’t know what I would use something that tiny for, but it is tempting.

So, this might be something I get a chance to make. I’m trying to spend as much time as I can studying, but this might be one of those things I can take a break to do!

Now if only I can find a digital camera I like. I was hoping to hold out and justify to myself to buy an SLR, but I’m having a hard time doing so. I did find a nice sony, but I want to do more research. I am attracted to it by the 12x optical zoom. Bad me.
