The AntiCraft. It’s right up my alley! I think Snowball’s Chance in Hell is cute.
A new issue of Magnits is out as well. The only thing in this issue that I might think of knitting is Jessica.

I had a revelation earlier this week while riding in the car with Josh. I have a whole container of yarn in storage. Crap! I’ve got to do some stash busting projects after the Yule presents. Incidently, many of the Yule presents will be stash busting.
One idea was to make a Tesselating Fish blanket and also maybe make premie hats with the baby yarns I have. My local animal shelter doesn’t need blankets for the animals, so that is a no go. I’m also thinking of making some of these star toys. Oh, and not really a stash buster, but I love these felted slippers. I may even get some fiber to try some needle felting on them.
I’m toodling along on the gloves for Josh. I’ve already put aside the stitches for the thumb and am just working on going up the palm. I’d post pictures but I am lucky if I get anything decent out of my camera lately. Since the Xmas sales should be starting soon, I’m going to keep a keen eye out for good deals on cameras.
The cat seems to have forgiven me for putting her in a shrug. I thought some of you might like to know.
Alas, I don’t think making Skittles a shrug will work out. She hissed and yelled at me while I put it on and walked into the room Josh was in. She gave him a fearful look, turned around and flopped on the rug. She didn’t get up until I took it off. So, no go on the kitty shrug front. I think she’ll just be doing a lot of sleeping.
I made this one from the sweater I fulled and was using for DPN cases. Unfortunately, the cat has discovered the rest of the sweater and has taken it over. I cut the sleeve into a rectangle and sewed little three inch sleeves. In theory it works great and would probably work great on cats that don’t mind dressing up. Mine however, would prefer to just suffer her paw pain and stay naked.
PumpkinMama’s Flower Basket Shawl is kind of making me want to buy the pattern and knit one. I am really not a shawl kind of person, but darn it, that thing looks great.
I think it is the variegation that does it. I’ve seen plenty that are solid and they never appealed to me, but this time it does.
OK, first I must finish the gloves I have started for Josh. These things are taking forever. I finally got them started “for real” as AJ says, yesterday. I am listening to HP6 while I do it and it helps because knit 1 purl 1 is entirely too boring.
Also, for a quick goofy knit, I love that Alison posted her pattern for Thing hair. I have a hair under two skeins of this variegated fun fur that is just there. It was leftover from Brittany’s teacher’s Yule present.
How odd is it that I could absolutely see myself making one of these!?! I wonder how Josh would feel about a panther in blue?
Boredom and reading through the holiday issue of Vogue Knitting caused me to make a pair of these little rose rings. There is a little tutorial for making them in the issue and I figured what the hell. I don’t plan to make the pillow in this issue, but I thought they were cute. It took about 20 minutes to make one. That includes time to watch what was happening on this episode of Without A Trace.
Shalyn wants me to make her one, but she wants it smaller since her hand is smaller (her decision). I have some fine red yarn I can try it with. I’m not sure it will look right, but we’ll give it a try.
I’ve actually got an idea for using them on something. I have to experiment. Geez, I’ve got too many ideas. I don’t know when I’ll ever get to do all of them.
Hey Pamela… Unusual Toys for You to Knit and Enjoy is out now. I’m not buying it yet though. I have too many projects planned to even try and think about something that fun.
Did I mention I got a serger for my birthday? Along with scissors, yarn, money, and clothes. I have some skirts that I will use the serger on, once I get a chance to breathe. I gave it a test run and it was lovely.
You knew it was coming. The cat just had to be photographed in something. The only reason she managed to sit for this is because she was really hungry and will tolerate a lot when she wants food.
I’ve been plotting out the gloves for Josh. Everyone at the field keeps telling him to just go a buy some from the army/navy store, but they don’t seem to get it. See, these gloves are knitted with love. And not only that, they are for me to learn from and most importantly, they are a reason to buy more yarn!
I’m thinking of using the insane amount of white acrylic that I have accumulated and use them to make Yule stockings. I know we don’t really celebrate it, but I need to do something with them. Maybe I’ll make blank ones and give them away or something. ??? I just need to thin out the acrylic. It is taking up entirely too much room!
I had an idea that Josh poo-pooed pretty quickly. I have a skein of wool left that I thought about using for the cat. You see, when she was little, she hurt her paw. We took her to the vet and he said he could do surgery, but it wouldn’t do much at the time and could make it worse later. We opted to not have the surgery done, but now that her age is showing, it seems to be hurting a little earlier in the season.
Anyhow, I thought about making the cat a shrug! I figure it wouldn’t be as difficult to get on as the sweater. I’ve managed to get a small cardigan (for a newborn) on the cat once before* and she tolerated it. I think it is better than putting on legwarmers that she could chew off. Yes, I thought about this for a while. I don’t know if I will get to it, but it is an idea. I feel so bad when I see her pull her paw up to keep the pressure off of it. The poor baby.
*I swore it was her size and no one believed me, so I showed them!
I used the dyed silk yarn I got from ebay and it looks pretty cool. I don’t think it was appropriate for this pattern, but it looks neat. I was going to give it as a gift if it worked the way I wanted to, but I think I want to try it with a different yarn for a gift.
Pattern: Clapotis from knitty.com but shortened in length and width.
Materials used:
US5 Straight Needles
Kool Aid dyed silk yarn mentioned previously
Stitch Markers
The first thing I thought of when I saw this knitty surprise was… I can use this to make a stuffed Deatheater pillow! Of course I love the little pumpkin surprises too. And to round it off, you can knit your own bit!
