I found a simple cable pattern online and will have one going up each side of a stockinette rectangle bordered in garter stitch. So far, I have one twist of each cable done. Of course, when I started, I couldn't find the cable needles I'd just bought, so I had to use a DPN with stitch holders stuck on the end. It was ungainly but it worked.
