The Red Bag

Red BagI needed a knitting bag. I had seen a slip through bag once before, but couldn’t recall where.

I was bored one Sunday and decided to dye some yarn. I had quite a few packets of some cheap kool-aid knock off drink mix. I gave it a whirl and loved the colors it came up with. I made about five different skeins. Each of them was in a varying shade of red.

The base of the bag was done in the brightest red and I used the next lightest as I went up.

I managed to make this bag in about four or five hours. I was extremely bored at my mother’s store and just made it up as I went along.

Update: This was the bag I was looking for in the first place. Lion Brand also sells a kit for a the same Lucy bag.

Materials Used:
Lion Brand Fishermen’s Wool (dyed with red, orange, and yellow drink mixes)
10.5 US Circular
10.5 US DPN

  1. Neat bag! I’d like to play around with dying yarn, but I’m allergic to wool. :(

  2. It’s fun, but smelly. I’m allergic to some animal fibers, but I do ok with the Lion Brand stuff. That is why I am hesitant to order any of the expensive stuff online. :(
