Though I don’t want to include spoilers, if you read on, be warned there might be some on any of these posts.
The first item on my #MetaToldMeToWatchIt list was Pieces of Her on Netflix. I knew it was based on a book but I hadn’t read anything about it. It had Toni Collette so I had hopes going in. When Meta first suggested it, I didn’t realize it was a series, so that took me by surprise. I hadn’t planned to spend that much time with Toni.
The series definitely peaked at the start. I wouldn’t say it was completely downhill after that but the rest of the series didn’t live up to that the initial excitement. It was more or less a plateau. As the series progressed, there were a number of places where I thought, “That was predictable.” Toni Collette was of course great though her character Laura was a little frustrating. Bella Heathcote’s Andy was really good and it was nice to see that character develop through the series.
In the end, I enjoyed it as a task. If you have it on your list, watch it. Do I recommend it as a must watch? Not really.
Up next, 2067 on Hulu.
