On my Phone

Monday, February 8th, 2010

Kind of like the old show us your desktop, I thought I would list the apps I currently have installed on my G1.

Amazon – Yes, I shop.
Barcode Scanner – It scans QR codes and barcodes.  I use it for sites and flyers that have codes on them. I also use it as a supplemental application to another (to be listed).
Bloo – A facebook app. I haven’t used it too much but I like it so far.
Camera Magic – Sometimes you just want to have fun.
Facebook – the official app. It is a bit limited but the simplicity works well when I am trying to do something quickly.
Foursquare – Yes, I am on foursquare. I don’t use it that often but I do find irony in the fact that I am the foursquare Mayor of my building.
Freshface – I skin my phone. I have adorable cute animals as icons. Don’t judge me.
FxCamera – More photo fun
Goggles – If I told you why I have this, I’d have to kill you (with ridiculousness)
Google Translate – I think this one is pretty self explanatory.
HotSpot Connect – I like free wi-fi
iHeartRadio – Yes, they make one for the android. Listen to Clearchannel radio stations!
Last.fm – I use this when I am in the mood to explore music but don’t want to be at my computer.
Listen – Podcast fun
Meebo IM
– instant messaging
Missed Call – Oh how I love this. I can customize the flashing LED on my phone depending on what I have missed (email, text message, call, etc).
My Collection – using the barcode scanner, I can catalog my music and dvds. Can also export the csv!
MySpace – I still use myspace for the sole purpose of finding new music.
Photoshop.com Mobile – Edit my photos!
PixelPipe – Upload stuff from my phone to a number of social media sites.
ShopSavvy – Used with the barcode scanner and my phone camera, I can scan a product and compare prices online and sometimes locally.
TasKiller – Sometimes programs don’t want to die, so you have to kill them.
TV.com – Watch television shows on my phone. Good for trips and free airport wi-fi!
Ustream Viewer – Live puppycam on my phone. Honestly, you need access to adorableness.
Voice – Google Voice on my phone. As an original GrandCentral user (thanks Eric), I am happy to have this app.
WordPress – Post to your blogs or other peoples if you have access. ;P

Changes if I try hard enough

Friday, February 5th, 2010

I am attempting to update this via my G1. It seems to be working. I wonder if this will increase my post habits if I try hard enough.

After spending some time on and off with a few google folks over the past month, I am decided that while the Nexus one is quite lovely to look at, it is not for me. Neither is the myTouch. I need a phone with a keyboard when the time comes to upgrade.

Does anyone have any essential Android apps that they want to recommend? Remember that I am a web developer/designer, social media gal and a blogger. So if you have an app to recommend, go for it. Usual email address if you are still too shy to comment.

Hmm. Down side of this app? I am on my phone more and my battery is suffering. Oops.
