Holy Sexy

Friday, December 26th, 2008

In looking for something completely unrelated, I came across this article for the Sony HES-V1000 Blu-ray Server. As the image appeared, the first words from my mouth were, “Holy Sexy!” Is that not a sexy piece of equipment? Honestly. I haven’t read the article completely, but I had to comment on just how heart-breakingly sexy it is.

Is it wrong that I am gaffing over electronics?

Divisible by Three

Friday, December 26th, 2008

Why, why did it have to happen? One of my drinking glasses met an early end. Unfortunately, this puts me at 14. This is an unacceptable number. All of the different types of drinking glasses in my cabinets are divisble by three. It just happened and I like it. Therefore, I must get another one (or four) next time I got to Ikea. I love that they are so heavy. I’m surprised that it broke. It must have hit top edge first.

There were only five of us in the office today, so I actually managed to get a lot done. I completed three quarters of a project that I had deadlined for January 16th. Of course that was because I had planned on having someone else do it, but scheduling meant otherwise. I probably could have finished it if I hadn’t been trying to help a couple of folks troubleshoot errors. All is well, I felt like I accomplished a lot today.

Josh is not feeling well and he is on the couch watching Kill Bill Vol 1. Whatever makes him happy. He had better feel better soon, we’re off to visit family tomorrow evening!

Let’s Go Through The Motions

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

Sometimes I doubt your commitment to Sparkle Motion I don’t know why, but I find this avatar/icon/image extremely amusing. I found it on a wiki Kris had linked to. Donnie Darko has some of the best quotes ever, so this just forced me to link. Sorry.

I’m presently baking a cake. It would seem that this year everyone coordinated on side dishes, but not desserts. My mom had bought pies, but left them at the store, so there is no dessert. I had cake mix here, so I am making a cake for tomorrow. While we “celebrate” Christmas, we are really only going through the motions. I’m not exactly sure why though.

I just received a phone call. My cousin’s daughter was trying to annoy me into telling her what we got her. She’s ten. I told her it was a big ole bag of nunya [business].

A little rumble

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Perhaps I shouldn’t have purchased the Band of Brothers set. Josh has been watching a little each day and well, there is more than a little rumble in the house every few minutes. The blasts and the subwoofer have made for shakey evenings. Yes, interesting indeed.

My G and Me

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

If you follow my twitter posts, you will already know this. Yesterday I bought a G1. There was much debate about the purchase of this phone. Most, if not all of the debating was with myself. I decided that I should go ahead. I really don’t let myself buy something I really want that often. The last time was with the Archos, and I coveted that for over a year until I found one on clearance. So, I bit the bullet and bought it. I’m quite happy with it too!

So far my biggest gripe is the smears on the touch screen. That put me off of the iTouch and iPhone. But, I found screen protectors for $5, so I’m ordering those and an 8gb card (for $18) this week.

Now for what I love. I downloaded and installed the ShopSavvy app for it. It allows me to scan a barcode using the phones camera (or type it in if necessary) and it compares prices online and in local stores (if they have their prices). I used it three times in the pet store for not only prices, but I also checked out reviews. I had one woman ask what I was doing and she was amazed at where technology has taken us when I told her. Yay.

Well that will be it for now. I’ve gotten hot pepper juice on my nose and it is still on fire, 30 minutes later. Oww.

Aston

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

I’m not sure why, but Josh seems set against me getting an Aston Martin. I’m partial to the DBS of course. Perhaps it is the fact that it isn’t a four door is why he doesn’t think I need it? Yes, it must be that. It certainly can’t be the price. Right?

The time has come where we are starting to think about a new car. My Honda is a 96. She’s still getting good mileage, but she’s starting to need replacement surgery. Due to our habit of researching the life out of large purchases, we figure it best to start now and be ready. Josh is thinking a Toyota Yaris. Hrm. DBS or Yaris? To make things worse, we drove past the Aston Martin dealer on the way home from my parents’ house. So cruel.

I’ll end up with a Yaris in the end. I wouldn’t want to buy a car that I can’t drive around here with much frequency. Though I would LOVE to have the option.

Instant Society

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

It frustrates me to no end that because something is on TV, so many people believe it is real. If I hear someone else ask why they don’t have the DNA test back on the child’s body they found on Thursday, I’m going to probably slap them. Just because CSI and Maury Povich do it “instantly,” doesn’t mean that it is how things really work. Crikey.

Josh and I watched Quantum of Solace last night. It was visually interesting and the action sequences were good, but I really wasn’t all that into this one. I think they relied too heavily on the action. Maybe I’m just cranky in my old age.

Music Appreciation

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

Before Fringe comes on, I am trying to listen to some music and relax. I have downloaded a number of free songs from Amazon. I am a fan of their samplers and have actually found some music I really like. I downloaded the P is for Panda Mix Tape Volume 1 and found that I kind of like a few of the artists on it. Yay for discovery! I’m also re-discovering old likes as well.

Work hasn’t been particularly stressful, just very busy. I’m off most of next week, so I’m trying to get as much work as possible done so that I can reach my goals for the end of the year.

Remember

Sunday, December 7th, 2008

Pearl Harbor AttackedDecember 7, 1941. A date which will live in infamy. Shortly before 8:00 A.M., December 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor, on the Island of O’ahu, Hawaii, was attacked by the Japanese Imperial Navy.

We should never forget today’s date and what happened 67 years ago. So many of the people who survived are dying before this new generation can learn from them what happened. Search the web, talk to someone and hear the stories while you still can.

Sore Feet

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

My feet are sore, aching and blistered. We had a big event at work and I forgot to swap out of heels. I’m so paying for it now. My feet ache so much that I think my toenails hurt. I’m wearing flats tomorrow.

It was a fun night and I kept busy. I think that is good.
