Sandra Dee
Whoa, ‘Sandra Dee‘ has died. She was in one of my all time favorite movies, Imitation of Life.

I finally got an OK picture of the the not so secret bag for my sister in law’s birthday. The white trim is slowly growing on me. I think it was smart to put it on separate though. That way if it gets annoying, it can be removed pretty easily. I’ve been calling this the $500 bag because of the span of time it took me to complete it. I think I spent about 10 hours on it, but I usually only got to work on it for about 30 minutes at a time.
My fingers are sporting a lovely shade of red right now. I dyed quite a bit of yarn this morning in varying shades of red. I am thinking of actually making something for myself with this yarn! My other sister in law wants me to make her the laptop bag from Stitch ‘n Bitch Nation.
Just for reference, you can blame Josh’s parents and sister for turning me into a knitting maniac. Josh’s mom gave me her tools and stash, his dad shipped it to me, and his sister gave me some awesome books for Xmas. They are my knitting enablers and I love them!
Also for reference. Josh and I have this thing that we do in order to pay for our “hobbies” (my websites and crafts, his planes and engines). We each started with what we inherited or bought in the past and now we buy or sell things in order to buy more hobby related items. It has worked out good for both of us. Josh is doing good selling engine related stuff on Ebay and I’m surviving with advertising. This is also how I plan to pay for any gadgets I want as well. I have technically already earned enough for the gadgets I want, but I don’t want deplete my funds in case I come across a great deal on anything while I am out. I prefer to stay high in the black rather than the red. Also, I don’t deduct when I purchase yarns or something for birthday/holiday gifts. I would have normally spent non-hobby money on it in the first place.
And finally… I think I might start a sub-domain just for craft related posts. I know I tend to babble on a lot about this stuff, so it might be better. Plus, I can post and share some of the things I normally just bookmark. I will still have the crafty section for just my completed works. It is just an idea I am tossing around.
Productivity is my bitch. I am on a roll here! I’ve registered a domain name for a client, uploaded the files I have completed to the newly created hosting account for said domain name and am doing a little dance. I have one final thing to do and I think I will be golden. Of course before I do that I need to find my Photoshop cd. The problem with being overly organized is you forget what organization method you used and are TSOL until you figure it out.
My next project will require me to immerse myself into that wonderful world of ecommerce. Gawd help me this will be painful.
I had forgotten how nice it could be to have the tv/radio tuner in my computer. I haven’t used it recently because I have a TV about three feet away. I got silly today and started looking through a box of old electronics parts. Inside I found a set of rabbit ears circa 1980s. I found an adapater and hooked that puppy up to the radio input on my tuner card. This also got me started looking for a splitter for some cable tv. Now Josh and I can be in this room and not fuss over what is on TV. Bob forbid either of us watch the giant one in the other room. Now it is 1+ TV in every room. The funny thing is, we don’t really watch TV all that much. The only real shows we watch are the news, Lost, CSI, Law & Order (sometimes), and lately, NUMB3RS and House.
I can hear Josh in the garage either grinding away at something or cutting something. I’m too tired to concentrate on what exactly the noise is. Either way, he needs to stop soon. It is past 11PM and we both have to get up early.
I’m mad that I missed the first half of Lost (don’t worry, no spoilers), but I got caught up fast enough. That is really one of the few shows what I really try to watch. Does anyone else have a bad habit of calling Jack by his Part of Five name, Charlie? I keep doing it.
I finished my sister in law’s birthday present. I finished it a month early. Not bad but not good either considering I have been “working on it” since just after X-mas. I’ll probably take pictures of it tomorrow night. She’s already seen it, so it isn’t a big secret. She isn’t getting it until her birthday though. I like to be mean like that.
Tomorrow is my brother and sister in law’s 11th anniversary. Dude, it seems like forever. I knew my sister in law when I was in the 6th grade. I have the yearbook* that she signed way back then. Gawd we were dorks.
I need to make myself a goofy mix cd for tomorrow. I will be at my dad’s shop trying to remember that it isn’t just race week, it is also “bite your tongue for the damned redneck race fans” week.
Last bit of my current train of thought is, Brittany might get an Ipod Shuffle for her birthday, if anyone has one in stock!
* We didn’t have official yearbooks, so all of the students would make their own.
I swear it is a miracle. The girls have been playing school all afternoon and not fighting! Brittany is the teacher and a few students while Shalyn is playing about three different students. I haven’t had to get after them for fighting at all today. Wow, I do believe I am stunned.
Skittles is freezing and hiding under a few polar fleece pullovers and a wool blanket. Pathetic, but cute.
I’m going to reload my machine tomorrow since I have been without keyboard and mouse most of last night and today. Josh was borrowing it while working on a friend’s computer.
Josh and I went to the new Jo-Ann’s to see what it looked like. It is a little smaller than the super-mega-store we tend to go to, but they did have the Angel Hair yarn I love so much. Strangely, I opted not to buy it. I bought some sock needles and some goofy multi-colored acrylic sock yarn. It is for a project I am thinking about. I’ll stick to shopping online unless I need something in a hurry. I did forget to pick up a ball of fun fur yarn that I need to complete a project that I have had sitting around for a few umm weeks (almost two months).
I’ve decided that the cat and I need to runaway for a vacation. I’m having a horrible time getting over a cold I should have gotten over a week ago!
Crap, I typed too soon. The girls are having a tif over a set of markers. At least they are going home soon and will have to go to bed soon after that!
It only took one hour and twenty-five minutes, but I compressed one 640mb file into a 104mb file! Yippee for me. Now to burn some cds, replace the power supply and reload this machine. The first two will probably occur today and the last will be done tomorrow as I have the older munchkins this afternoon and evening. Fun! After tomorrow I probably won’t see them for almost two weeks! /gasp
I made a CD for my dad. The apple doesn’t fall very far from the tree. Here’s the playlist:
Aerosmith – Dream On
Ojays – Back Stabbers
Stevie Wonder – Superstition
Paul McCartney & Wings – Live and Let Die
Jim Croce – Time In A Bottle
America – A Horse With No Name
Bob Marley & The Wailers – Get Up, Stand Up
Bob Marley & The Wailers – I Shot The Sheriff
Bob Marley & The Wailers – Stir It Up
Sade – Smooth Operator
Pet Shop Boys – West End Girls
Peter Gabriel – Sledgehammer
David Bowie – Let’s Dance
Found in a few places… A somewhat on target result…
Which Lost Character are you?
You are Locke. A mystery within a mystery. You’re a fountain of backgammon trivia and an expert with knives. You might like pina coladas and definitely like getting caught in the rain. You prefer keeping to yourself mostly, but you’ll tell your secrets to the right person. Are you evil? Your accompanying soundtrack sure is sinister.
