Painted toes

Friday, July 30th, 2004

Senior munchkin and I painted each other’s toes. I figured that was a safe bet. She couldn’t take that the wrong way. I’m really not one for doing my nails, much less my toe nails. She picked a pale metallic green. I’d probably wear the color (without the metallic) on an article of clothing. I picked a deep red/pink. It matches the small flowers on a skirt I found her last week. She’s going to wear that tomorrow.

Shopping went well for be today. I can actually remember everything I bought. A package of dish sponges (the current one is on its way to stinking something wretched), cat litter, coffee filters, and candy bars that everyone wanted some of. I was really looking for a melitta manual coffee maker, but couldn’t find one anywhere around here. We can’t justify using the big coffee maker if Josh is the only one actually using it, so we will just use good ole’ little Mr. Coffee for now.

Thanks for all the fish

Spotted a Pagan Intolerance quiz over at Solitary Willow (a fairly new read for me). A good quiz, especially for a history nerd like me.

I feel like I have accomplished a lot this week. I finished the Skittles Cam conversion, including stuff for ads. I did a ton of yard work. I kept the house clean. I organized my craft related stuff. I actually planned out and swatched something for a new knitting project. I started on making some large knitting needles. Go Me!

Heading out to do a wee bit of shopping/browsing with my mother, sister-in-law, and the kids. Someone help me! Brittany is spending the night here tonight for some away from the siblings time. Right now, she’s going through that stage in her life. It’s rough on us, so we know it’s rough on her, but sometimes.. Arrghhh. She takes anything we say and makes it negative. /sigh I don’t know if I can handle this. According to my mother, I was never like this. Maybe I just have a better hold on my emotions than she does.

Busy little bee

Thursday, July 29th, 2004

I’ve been a busy little bee. I finished doing Skittles’ site. Most of the site is valid HTML. The only notty sections are the ones where I’m pulling affiliate code for the pet stores. Meaning, mostly it is the review sections. Oh well.

I took a break and got the smaller side yard mowed. I also watched a little video on two handed fair isle knitting. I don’t plan on doing any right now, but now I don’t feel as intimidated by the idea. It was like how I felt about using double pointed needles to knit in the round, eeeek.

I think I need a nap now.

A splash of links

Meta Critic - Reviews from just about everywhere on just about everything.

Spider-man and the peril of Doc Ock - Oh my, I don’t even want to think about showing this to AJ.

The MP3Blogs Aggregator - An aggregated feed of mp3 weblogs.

Cellar Door - A guide to Donnie Darko (and help with the website).

Thought

Sunday, July 25th, 2004

I have been wondering this for the past few days. Do you think they use Hunts ketchup at the White House? You know, on principle. I mean his opponents wife is Teresa Heinz Kerry. Just wondering.

I fubared the template for the sub pages of Skittles Cam, but I think I have finally fixed it. Oops. Always make backups of your backups. Now I have to start changing the files, again. /sigh

My day

Saturday, July 24th, 2004

Hi, I’m miftik and I’m having one cruddy day today. First I feel ill, the cable company still hasn’t gotten its internet connection act together, winamp went nutso, and now my computer decides it doesn’t like me anymore. This just all bites.

Though, the positive notes for today are:
- I sorted and stored all of my yarnage. I took a picture of most of it. Will post that later. I really should inventory it.
- I cleaned up the spare bedroom (aka the kids’ room) since AJ will be staying over with us while his sisters are at a sleepover.
- I actually ate something without rushing myself!
- Josh came home a little early!

Mac that

Friday, July 23rd, 2004

After reading of the computer woes of Kris, I think she needs to make her own Mac.

Back to work. I finished cleaning, but am still at a loss as to what to do with that plethora of yarn.

Darn my luck

Friday, July 23rd, 2004

Ugh. I bought some pants today made of great fabric. So I just start looking at them and say to myself, “Hey, these look like they might fit me”. So I go to try them on (yes, they fit) and look a little closer. Hrmm. Could that be what I think it is? No, it couldn’t be. When in doubt, search the internet.

Holy carpet, I scored a pair of Gaultier pants for under a $1*. I don’t plan on wearing them as they are really the stand/don’t move/just be looked at kind of pants, but I haven’t the heart to take them apart. /sigh I need to be lucky enough to find a Haute Couture dress or something!

Well, back to cleaning. I’m trying to figure out what to do with all of that yarn. My current stash is already overflowing. Eeek.

*I scour the thrift stores looking for yarn and fabric. The old people seem to die around here having not used their good yarns and fabrics. At least it is going to a good home when it goes home with me!

Wishful dollars

Friday, July 23rd, 2004

Fluckity, Fluck, Fluck! If there was ever a time I wish I had a few grand to just play with, this is it. Fluckity! I have found original movie reels of, The Geisha Boy (starring Jerry Lewis) and A Street Car Named Desire (starring the late Marlon Brando). There was also an original reel for what I think was Attack of the Swamp Creature, but I can’t remember exactly. There was also a ton of Mohammad Ali and other boxing legends promotional material. I was inches away from purchasing some promos from The King and I (With Yul Brenner and Deborah Kerr) and a promo I think was for A Song is Born (starring Danny Kaye).

But, to satisfy my pain, I scored big yarnage. Umm, I got a ton of yarn. Much of it is acrylic, but strangely it is really nice. I got some wools and cottons as well. I need to get a picture of my entire stash, but below is what I got today.

Mother pluckers

People shouldn’t bite the bloody hand that feeds them. Grrr.

This post does not apply to anyone who reads this. If you think I’m talking about you, you’re wrong. This regards something I do pro bono. Which consists a lot of the work I seem to be doing lately.
