Welcome back printer

Sunday, May 30th, 2004

I’ve missed my laser printer. Going back to an ink jet was difficult. I feel better having found my printer. I’m happy. I wasn’t happy this morning when Josh and I went in search of it and found it almost toward the end of the whole freaking storage. I also wasn’t a happy camper when I realized that we had forgotten to seal off the toner and that it was “all shook up” during the move. Gawd was it messy. I have to break out the carpet cleaner in a little while to clean up some of the mess. I managed to get the inside clean and then had the printer clean itself about 15 times.

What else did I find in my searches through storage? A whole crap load of clothes that will fit me! Really nice soft flannel pajamas. Not exactly something for the summer, but I guess I’m ready for winter now. I found a box full of printer paper. Josh found lots of his technical books (including one that he had bought again), and I also found more yarn. Lots more of that sweet wonderful yarn. There is a really nice soft blue wool that I may use to try to make a scarf for Josh. Getting the width is always my problem. I have yet to make him a scarf, so this may be just the thing. He has way too make knit hats for me to even think about making one of those for him.

We reorganized and relabeled everything so now we sort of know where everything is. I know where to find a ton of toys for the cat.

Oh, about the furniture. They came on time. They set it up and it looks good.

Bored, bored, bored

Saturday, May 29th, 2004

I’m bored. No, really, I am bored.

I went shopping with my mother to help her find some curtains. My brother and sister in law went too. We didn’t find any curtains, but I went off and found myself a cute Bazooka Bubble Gum T-shirt. I tried it on and realized just how much weight I have lost. Holy carp. I look like a completely different person now. It’s kind of weird.

Well, I’m sitting here waiting for the delivery people to bring my parents’ new bedroom set. It’s quite nice. I went and bought it earlier this week. I think they will like it. It’s real wood, not particle board or mdf. It cost a pretty penny too, but it is something that should last.

I just heard the ice maker drop some ice and I thought it was someone knocking on the door. I told you I was bored. Even Skittles has decided to boycott entertaining me. I think that has something to do with my putting a baby bonnet on her last night. I found it and she was there. It was on for a few seconds, but it was still funny as H-E-Double Hockey Stick.

I’m hoping my mom will return with the muchkins. I’ve had the greatest idea! Water balloons! We have a ton of birthday balloons left, so I think we should use them! I was also thinking of letting them have squirt guns too, but I may hold off on that. I don’t think I have enough for everyone to play. Hrmm.

More fainting

Thursday, May 27th, 2004

I should have fainted, not once, but twice today! First, Brittany made a little avatar and then she… posted it! Go on everyone, gasp. Second, while watching Return of the King (again), she got how to knit! She finished two rows and was so excited. Now we’re getting ready for the arrival of my mother. Her plane is twenty minutes early, so Josh has to hurry to go pick her up.

Avatared

I found this nifty little avatar creator from Viva, over at snye.net. I can’t get the hair and face structure just right. It is close enough though.

If you can’t see it properly, it’s because I was testing this entry using css to avoid an evil image stealer.

Fainting in the South

Krispy Kreme to Make Low-Carb Doughnuts.

Millions across the South have just fainted.

While I’m not a big fan of sugar anymore myself, there are just some things you don’t mess with. Krispy Kreme doughnuts are one of them. Depending on whether they cut the sugar or the refined flours or both, will say whether I will start eating them again.

I’ve been able to drastically manage my blood sugar level since cutting out sugar completely. I always had a problem with keeping my blood sugar level up. Now my body is managing itself and I can evaluate my situation to tell whether my level is low

No carb diet

I think most of my friends will be willing to give up these CARBs. These are carbs we really could do without. (link via web-goddess.org)

Need a name

Wednesday, May 26th, 2004

So I have a problem. I seem to have formed an informal Stitch N’ Bitch type group. We sit around and knit, sew, finger knit, and embroider. I can’t call it a Stitch N’ Bitch though. You see, my fellow crafts-folk are all under the age of ten. I’ve been trying to teach them all how to do these fun little things and now when they are all together, they sit and talk about school and life. It’s a great way to get an idea of what is going on in their lives, without pressuring them to actually tell you.

So, my problem is that I need a more appropriate name for these gals’ little gathering. I was trying to think of craft/activity things that rhymed with blab. Any ideas?

Well, I’m off to watch some Return of the Kings with Munchkins #2 and #3. #1 is going to work with daddy today.

Me spake englich gut

Tuesday, May 25th, 2004

Sunday an elderly man complimented me on my English. What he said was, “You speak very good English.” Trying not to want to give this old guy a “beat down” I said, “What else should I speak, Pig Latin?” Of course he assumed that I spoke Spanish. The only thing I really know in Spanish is how to say, “I don’t speak Spanish” and my numbers. I would probably learn more if I watched Dora the Explorer more, but that girl gets on my nerves after about five minutes. After I chastised him for his assumptions, he held his head down low and left with his tail between his legs. OK, so not really, but he did feel pretty stupid for making such an assumption.

Tasks

Monday, May 24th, 2004

Josh is sick. He’s all stuffy and may not get to go flying tomorrow (sin!) We may even postpone buying LoTR:Return of the King until tomorrow morning! /gasp! He looks and sounds that bad.

I’ve been doing a massive inventory at one of my parents’ stores. It sucks and my hands feel all icky afterwards. I’ve got hand cleaner though. We’re doing this because my mom isn’t here and it is the only time we can! She will be returning on Thursday.

And that is the weekend update.

Coppers
So apparently yesterday the guys that rent the house next to our neighbors across the street got raided. Dude, it’s suburbia!!! Josh came in from a trip to the flying field and asked me when it had started. Apparently I missed all the real action. Those three people in that picture are city officers. I didn’t get any of the DEA guys with their face masks on, sorry.

They are pretty much the only younger folks besides Josh and I. Everyone else is at least 40 with kids.

I think tomorrow I will work on making a separate knitting section, so as to not bore everyone with my knitting tales. I’ll probably start pulling the latest entry from there onto the front page of my site.

Off to the bank. Hope I don’t have to see any more coppers!
