OMG, I finally got my hair cut

I finally did it. I will be donating 19 inches of my hair.

Lessons learned for today:
1. Make sure the person cutting your hair really knows what you are talking about.
2. Keep your eyes open when they cut.

Apparently after explaining where I wanted her to cut off, so that I can donate atleast two feet, she still got it wrong. She left almost 8 inches off of what I wanted her to cut off! Needless to say, I didn’t tip her. Grr.

A storm is brewing outside. The season has begun. It will be like this until August or September, storms between 3 and 5.

Off to watch Brother Bear with the kids.

celebrity crushes

Thursday, April 29th, 2004

My nephew has had a crush for a while. It’s cute, because he’s only three. His crush is… Dakota Fanning! Yes, the adorable little girl from I Am Sam, Sweet Home Alabama (Reese Witherspoon’s character as a little girl), Taken the mini series, Uptown Girls, The Cat in The Hat (one of the only reasons the movie was even bought), and now Man on Fire. He is quite cute when professing his fondness for her. He used to say, “I yike her.” Now if he decided to have crushes on cartoons, he would probably pick Kim Possible.

In other news, the flippin’ cable modem company is again doing work in the middle of the day. Who in the world schedules these things?

I finally remembered that I needed to set up a redirect for Brittany’s old section on this site to her new domain. She hasn’t really updated in a long time. She never seems to have the time. She might post some stuff on her science fair project, but I can’t say for sure. That seems to take up all of her free time when she is here. No, we didn’t do it on fertilized grass again. She did it on raisin counts in various brands of raisin bran cereal. Did you know you get more raisins per two cup bowl of Total than the other major brands?

Anyhow, maybe when she finishes the roll of film she has in her camera she will post them. For her birthday she got a Bratz camera from one of our friends.

Hey, snye.de is back, sort of (but that could also be my flakey connection today too). I am taking it that the move was a success.

I think I shall go water the backyard now. The front seems to be at the point where I shouldn’t water it too much. The back is still in need of much TLC. Stupid ants have been eating my grass seed. I swear it is like watching a Tom and Jerry cartoon. A line of ants were just walking off carrying a ton of my grass seed (I put seed on top of the soil so they wouldn’t take the stuff in it).

Are you gonna go my way

Yesterday we went to get a dvd burner for my dad. Apparently we got the wrong one, so we are heading back this morning to return it and get the right one. It doesn’t use the same format of blank dvds that I have, so I have to remember to buy some of those as well. The one that I bought yesterday does use the same as I have. Go figure.

Watch out, we could be watched! Also, Law & Order: SVU focused on a woman with a blog. The woman of course being Marlee Matlin. I remember seeing her as a kid doing Children of a Lesser God (the play). She did a Q/A with us afterwards. All I remember is that she seemed to really like acting on stage.

I’m working on making a generator for the code (for the bookmarklet for the link script). I’ll probably finish it later today and post it.

Kill Bill: Which Deadly Viper Assassin Are You?

Tuesday, April 27th, 2004

You know I had to do this one!

You are BillBILL! (Snake Charmer)
You’re Bill! I love you! Anyways, you’re skilled in the art of manipulation. You’re very strong, talented, powerful, and witty. You don’t seem to have any real sense of morality, and you only let your kindness show around a select handful of people (mostly Kiddo and B.B). You do have some regret for the horrible things you’ve done, but won’t let it interfere with your life. You respect your opponents, and you generally believe in fair game.

Knitting Invades My Dreams - again

Tuesday, April 27th, 2004

Last night I had a dream involving a serial killer that was a knitter. The killer would knit something for his victim and send it to them. He would only kill them when they were wearing what he sent them. Apparently I was an undercover agent looking for this killer. I was at a little Chinese place knitting in the corner when the serial killer saw me and struck up a conversation.

Then of course Skittles woke me up. This was one of those dreams where you want it to go on, just because it’s so darn silly, you have to see what comes out of it.

Interesting bits from the dream:
- The serial killer was “played by” Nick Stahl (with his hair rather short)*.
- One potential victim was a small boy. He received a pair of knitted gorilla-feet socks. The police hid him in a safe house before he could be killed.
- One victim was a woman who preferred to walk around on her hands. She received a pixie hat from the killer.
- The Chinese restaurant was in Chinatown and all of the employees spoke perfect English.
- I sat in the driveway of my grandparents’ neighbor, knitting. I was trying to attract the attention of the killer. Apparently it worked because he eventually found me at the Chinese restaurant.
- The killer was so nice, I almost didn’t want to have to arrest him.

*I only remember Nick Stahl from when he was younger, circa The Man Without a Face.

I either need to not take Melatonin ever again or take it every night to keep having these kinds of wacky dreams. I guess it makes for fun content.

Rainy Days

Tuesday, April 27th, 2004

Today is a rainy day. Actually it hasn’t started raining yet, but it’s been lightning and threatening to rain. I contemplated taking a walk to the post office, but decided against it after seeing a little too much lightning.

Last night I put up a links database. I started adding the fun and/or frequently used links. I changed quite a bit of the script stuff and a little of the looks. I also got a bookmarklet created for it. I couldn’t believe it actually worked. I still don’t know why the other one didn’t. /sigh

Tonight Josh and I are going out to a Thai restaurant with some of his flying friends. I’m hoping we aren’t going to be out too late, but I have a feeling we probably will be.

I am thinking I may cut my hair in about two weeks. My hair is pretty healthy aside from a few split ends here and there. I’ll have them trim those off and then cut it so I can donate it to Locks of Love.

Hey, it just started to rain. Yeah for not having to water the lawn after all! Hopefully the grass will start to grow in the backyard. The front yard is doing great, aside from the little area where some jerk off on a motorcycle ran into the mailbox and left a big old ripped up patch from their tire.

I hope that their karma kicked in and their shoulder is hurting. I knew I heard something the other night and that had to be it. They hit it hard enough to separate the screws from the post! Thankfully it just twisted the outer layer. We have the post three feet into the ground for just these reasons.

Banana Protection

Saturday, April 24th, 2004

“Are you fed up with bringing bananas to work or school only to find them bruised and squashed?” Protect your banana! It’s just funny.

I just finished making some spinach pie just a little while ago. Yummy stuff.

We had a scare earlier today. Skittles was missing in action. She was found in a closet sleeping behind some clothes. I don’t think she has gotten enough sleep today and was trying to catch a few ZzZzs before bedtime.

Time for some quality time with the hubby.

Gathering it all together

Saturday, April 24th, 2004

This post is coming to you from my fabulously reloaded machine! Frustration after the dead memory stick led me to reload yesterday. Actually it started on Thursday morning, but the completion was delayed by errands.

Things I have noticed while reloading.
1. Thunderbird sucks when it comes to trying to import a lot of messages. I gave up and got rid of it. I’ve got over six years worth of messages that I keep on hand (yes, I frequently view some of those messages) and if Thunderbird can’t handle it, I will have to stick with the evil O until Thunderbird is improved. It works brilliantly for new accounts and I recommend it to anyone that needs to use it for such. Brittany is currently using it for her email.

2. I’ve got way too many program CDs to keep track of. I have three 3″ binders full. I’ve tried copying programs all on to one cd, but I still have a lot. Maybe I should burn them onto a dvd disk? Just an idea.

3. My motherboard is wonky. I’m having issues again with my computer recognizing my PDA via USB. The only thing I can think of is the USB controller on the motherboard. It’s the only thing left on my mental checklist.

4. The last version of the Do-Something plugin doesn’t play well with others on my computer. The older version works fine though. Strange.

5. For some reason Winamp5 keeps cutting off the last few seconds of almost every song it plays.

6. My burner kicks butt. I burned an almost 700mb cd in less than a minute. Golden

Today while watering the yards, I began reviewing PHP Visual QuickStart Guide and realized it is probably the most easily readable PHP book I have seen. I’m really not too big on books that talk down to people. It is really a basic book, but it will help you grasp the early stages of PHP.

Tomorrow Brittany and I will work on her science fair project. Technically I’ll be there to make sure she’s doing it. It’s not something she really needs me for. She will need me later for the spelling and grammar checks. Then again she’s recently discovered the wonders of spell/grammar check.

I still have some programs to load and will do so after I finish this. I think I may watch some Sopranos while I’m waiting for stuff to load. Sorry Josh, you can catch up tonight.

A quick bit

Wednesday, April 21st, 2004

I didn’t do a layout. My migraine came back. I made a little graphic and changed the link color. I know, ever so dramatic. I’ll do something later. No, I mean it. Really.

I need to do a little dance now… Because tomorrow I don’t have to get up early for anything tomorrow!

Someone please answer the door

Wednesday, April 21st, 2004

After getting some serious yard work done, I took a nap. I hadn’t intended on taking a nap though. I must have dreamed that I heard the doorbell because I woke up yelling across the house to have Josh get the door. He swore that it never rang. Oh well. It must have been a vivid dream. That’s what I get having the cat sleeping next to my head.

Tomorrow is Earth Day. In high school I was quite the active volunteer and Earth Day was always fun for me. Maybe the kids and I will do something special tomorrow when they come to visit. Depending on whether my migraines don’t reappear, I may make a layout for the day. I’ve been in the mood to redesign, so maybe this will be my motivation.
