Where did all the good repairmen go?

Monday, March 29th, 2004

I’ve been sitting around waiting for the repairman to come and check on the refridgerator. It was acting up last week, so we called a repairman out. He took a look and figured either the temperature sensor or the timer needed to be replaced. It’s under warranty, so I don’t care. I just want the thing to work properly. Well, he didn’t have the parts in his truck, so he had to order them and we rescheduled to have someone come out between 8am and noon today.

It is now close to 1PM. Apparently they have us down for sometime between 8am and 5pm. What the F#$K is up with that? Does their computer system just not work at all or are they stupid? Gawd. I’m not very happy. The actual technician is supposed to be calling me any time now to see if I want to reschedule. A part of me wants to, but the logical side of me wants to just get it over with. If he’s going to be late getting here, I might try to reschedule it. I’m just pissed. Where did all the good repairmen go?

Astral Moment

Sunday, March 28th, 2004

Whoa, I have been sitting here checking my mail and making sure life was fine and all of the sudden I felt like I was sitting outside on the patio. It happened again a minute later. I haven’t done that in a while.

I’ve been painting the patio and really should get back out there before I start hurting. I’m 3/4 of the way done, but the last 1/4 is the most difficult. It’s trim and the one small wall with all of the odds and ends on shelves next to the wall. In other words, I have to start moving stuff now. Ugh.

I learned something while painting.
1) Don’t let the cat chase lizards under and up the 10 ft ladder you are standing at the top of.
2) It’s really best to turn off the ceiling fans before painting the ceiling.

I got into a zone and just started painting. All of the sudden I heard a thud and felt the pain. I am surprised I didn’t fall off the ladder. I have the extension poles for the roller, but I hate using those. The coats aren’t as even. So, I’m starting to feel a little pain and can see the bruises already, under my paint covered hand.

I’ll recap everything later. I really should get out there before I get too settled.

Fighting it off

Saturday, March 27th, 2004

Apparently our neighbors have installed a wireless network. Their signal reaches us. It would seem that they are also running an unsecured wireless network. I was able to hop right on and surf. I’m tempted to run over to the few houses around and give them a gentle hint about it not being good having their network open like that.

I’m also fighting some sort of bug. I felt miserable yesterday and today hasn’t started off to well either. I may have gotten it from Brittany. She had a fever of 102.7 a couple of days ago.

While trying to stay sane yesterday I started looking at icons and avatars. I found some for The Boondock Saints. I love that movie. I’m a little anxious about the upcoming Boondock II: All Saints Day. It’s the original cast and crew, so I feel a little better.

/sniff sniff. I think my brunch is ready.

Full Circle

Wednesday, March 24th, 2004

My life has just come full circle. My niece is eating her cereal while watching Fat Albert, and she is laughing!

I am charging my camera batteries right now. The kids, my mother, and I are going to the park in about an hour. My youngest niece helped me pack a little cooler for us. It’s just waters, but the little things like that make her happy.

I did a massive cleaning yesterday. There is enough stuff in the trash pile to fill the trash bins for a few weeks. We have two of the large bins and they pick up twice a week. It’s a WHOLE LOT of stuff. I need to dispose of an old lawnmower, two exercise machines, a display shelf, and a whole crap load of other stuff.

Also on my list of things to do today:
Build a bike rack.
Build a tool rack.
Gather the various items I piled on the back patio and take them to the attic.
Chop down two little banana trees trying to creep up where they can’t live.

What I did yesterday:
Cleaned the garage.
Took apart a weight bench and packed it up.
Packed about 300lbs worth of weights.
Took apart a broken lawmower.
Took apart an old exercise machine. My brother did the other one on Monday
Made a stylin’ cute little monster. It sort or resembles a tooth with arms, legs, and ears. (It was craft night at Casa Miftik. Brittany made bead bracelets, Shalyn played with fabric, and AJ, well he played on the computer.)

Time to get the kids ready for the park. Need to find the basketballs and soccer balls. I may take my Stawberry Shortcake micro kite with me.

It has to be a sign

Sunday, March 21st, 2004

So I worked on my bookmarklet this morning. In reality, it’s not a very difficult thing to create. But for some reason I can’t get the data to send to the form. Ugh. Then, while working on it my machine crashed before I was able to save anything of value. That sucked.

Skittles was asleep earlier and starting hissing like crazy in her sleep. It scared the crap out of me.

I’m broken, put me back together

Saturday, March 20th, 2004

Woke up around 5:45 A.M today. Brittany had her birthday party today. Preteens, a five year old and a fussy little nephew. Oh man am I tired. I managed to clean up everything. Go me.

Before getting ready for the party I spent some time working on a bookmarklet. I have gotten half way there. I think I am too tired to work on it tonight. I may try for tomorrow, I don’t know. It’s a bookmarklet to add links to my link database. I only worked on it for about a half hour before having to stop. Just long enough to decide what variables I needed and all. I feel confident.

Last night I worked on redirects for SkittlesCam. I changed the site over to php a while back and some people haven’t updated/checked their links. Some links I didn’t redirect because people steal my bandwidth. Grrr.

Time for a nap. My back hurts and I just can’t stay awake.

Projects for me

Wednesday, March 17th, 2004

Ok, new projects I’m going to undertake.

First off will be this super easy little tote bag. After that will be a sock dog for Shalyn. My big project will be this knitted cat bed! It’s a test run for me and it’s a fun thing for Skittles. If the cat bed drives me nuts, I may make one of these cute little fruit hats.

Oh, I should also mention that I have a secret project that I started today, but I can’t reveal it until it is finished. You’ll understand why later. It’s for a good reason.

I’m tempted to make the purse tonight, but I’m afraid the sewing machine may keep Josh awake. Maybe I can cut everything tonight and start in the morning.

Wireless camera

Wednesday, March 17th, 2004

I’ve been saying for years that someone needed to make an easy to use wireless camera, and now they are all over the place! Linksys has a really nice one! Yeah! Now if only Josh would let me buy it!

Well, time to set up my scanner. I kind of forgot to do it when I reloaded my machine. Same with my tablet. Now that I need them both I need to install them. Oops.

Automotive Easter Egg

Wednesday, March 17th, 2004

Does anyone else find it amusing that there is a hidden easter egg in an automobile? More specifically, in the BMW M3.

I read this a while ago, but never got around to posting the link. I thought I should now. Just because.
