You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone …

Saturday, January 31st, 2004

I’ve got Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell stuck in my head. I think I am singing it because I’m missing two things. My laser printer and MI:5

I want to print out a huge mass of stuff, but my laser printer is in storage and I can’t justify using the ink jet printer to print out that much. It would be a waste of money.

I was also really hoping to watch MI:5 today, but it won’t be on again until next week. It’s like when I was a teenager. I had to keep an eye out for Cracker. Holy carp! Amazon.com has Season One and Season Two. Sweet! Season Two has probably my favorite episode ever, “To Be A Somebody” and Season One has “One Day a Lemming Will Fly” which is my second favorite episode. I don’t know why I loved this show so much, but I did. Oh, Season Three will be released in April. I must make a note of that. Season 1 of MI:5 is also available now. Yeah. And for more British Crime dramas, check out Prime Suspect: 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Of course two and three are being released at the end of February, four and five will be released in mid-April. Patience will be my friend.

In other news. Have I ever mentioned how much I envy Audrey Carol aka token chick‘s costuming skills?

I’m slowly cleaning up my bookmarks. I just have so many un-filed, it’s crazy. I recreated my database of links but need to go through them again. Maybe one day. I’m still organizing my fonts as well. Maybe I can finish organizing both this weekend.

Games to play

Thursday, January 29th, 2004

Having a little fun playing Connect4 and Pong, Rock Face Rescue, and a little snow peeing. I also found a space invaders remake. I’m kind of afraid to show it to Josh. There’s also a nice version of Shanghai Mahjongg. OK, I think that cleaned up my bookmarks for a bit. Time to eat some dinner, a little late.

I thought I could do it

Tuesday, January 27th, 2004

I thought I could do it today. I thought Josh and I could go and run errands all day today. Alas, I only made it about half way. I had to have Josh take me home, I felt horrible. I don’t quite know what it was all about, but it was weird. I made myself a sandwich and now here I am.

OK, Oscar talk time. I was really surprised to see Keisha Castle-Hughes (Whale Rider) on the list. Not to say she didn’t do a great job, I was just surprised. She’s now the youngest nominee for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Note to Anna Paquin fans, she won for Best Supporting Actress. Before today, Isabelle Adjani held the “title” for youngest nominee at age 20 for her work in The Story of Adele H.‘ I’m surprised that at least one of the Return of the King boys didn’t make best male or best supporting male, but the selection is a pretty good bunch none the less.

Well the primaries are ending in a few hours. Gawd, I hate this time of year. That is all they will talk about in the news tonight and it’s not like the NH Primaries even matter anymore. /sigh Considering that since the Old Man of the Mountain fell down last year, all they have left are Mt. Washington and the primaries. Well, maybe granite too, but I’m not sure if that is too much to be excited over.

Tomorrow

Monday, January 26th, 2004

Tomorrow morning I’m keeping my fingers crossed. What happens this year determines whether I lose my faith in them. That is all.

Spam in the form of politics

Sunday, January 25th, 2004

I just received a piece of e-mail in the form of support for General Wesley Clark. I used one of my spam filtering programs to view the code. It was an e-mail harvesting e-mail. Interesting.

I’m posting this for future reference. A Stitch Dictionary for embroidery and needlework. Also, some great templates for BOS or Celtic designs.

Welcome Opportunity

Sunday, January 25th, 2004

Josh and I settled in late this evening/ early this morning and watched some NASA TV. Opportunity landed successfully (so far) and a whole horse load of politicians were there to “congratulate” everyone. Arnold S, Al Gore and of course local congressmen. Well, at least they cared.

I’m glad it made is safely, but now back to work. Spirit is sick and needs to be healed!

Side note: Anyone notice NASA’s M2K4. I think it is so catchy it is cute!

MI:5

Saturday, January 24th, 2004

/sigh

I’ve been cleaning up all day and after hours of attic scurry time, I finally decided I should rest and maybe see what is on. I was hoping to catch MI:5 (aka Spooks). Apparently I missed it by an hour. I’ll probably pick it up on DVD when it comes out. So now I am watching the end of Empire Records.

I’ve lost my winter coat. Technically I know exactly where it is but I have lost it to the cat. She has grown to love sleeping in it. It reflects heat back really nicely and is quite soft. Needless to say, she’s taken it over.

After all of the cleaning today, I need a nap. I really need food too, but I’m too tired to fix anything. How pathetic is that? /sigh

Oh my. The cuteness is killing me. Hey Ya, the Peanuts video. Link via del.icio.us.

Calhoun Have a great bday (and vacation) my dearest friend.

State of the Union and my day

Tuesday, January 20th, 2004

Ha! I’m watching the State of the Union address. President Bush stated that the Patriot Act was set to expire soon and the Democrats all clapped before he could say anything. The look on Bush’s face was priceless.

Anyone participating the the State of the Union 2004 Drinking Game? I think some people are probably drunk by now and it hasn’t even been 20 minutes!

While I’m waiting for him to say anything relevant, let’s recap my day.

I was feeling a little funky so I just sat in one spot. It just happened to be at my desk. (Well, at least my chair reclines) I worked on a new design for this site. It seems to be working out quite nicely. I am just trying to tweak the stylesheet to make me happy.

Something must be up with my hearing because I thought he said “Our Nooodies” instead of “Our Duties” and I know for sure he just said itly instead of Italy. There is an A in there you know.

OK, I just thought of something. Maybe I should make a valentine’s day layout and save my other one for after valentine’s day. It’s an idea. If I get bored and can’t sleep tonight, I’ll know what to do.

Condoleeza Rice looks like she’s been crying. That’s not good. She needs to look strong and brave. There’s no crying in politics! Hey, he just told congress to be cheap and reform immigration laws. Hey, health savings accounts. Now we can save money to pay our inflated health care costs! Nice. :: rolls eyes :: Fundamental should have been on that drinking game.

Since this is a somewhat of a political post, let’s post some basic links to remember.
Rock the Vote
Project Vote Smart

Abstinence, wasn’t expecting that one. Marriage, it finally came up. According to him, judges are forcing their arbitrary will upon the citizens and apparently we must defend the sanctity of marriage. Yeah, two people who love each other should be allowed to marry. I don’t care if they are the same gender or not, love is love. Oh he jumped right to faith based charities. Now he’s talking prisoner “re-entry” initiatives including job training. Maybe I need to go to jail so I can get free training!

Is there any particular reason why Tom Brady of the New England Patriots should be seated three seats behind the President’s Wife. Wow, under one hour. He didn’t get any lengthy applause though.
